Mike Riley

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

BBC: "The Portuguese was not punished at the time and because the assistant referee admitted seeing it, the Football Association cannot review the incident."

The linesman, stood inches away saw it and didn't let Riley know through his little Janet Jackson headpiece that he should be arrested for GBH!

Though the Bosingwa 'incident' was hilarious, he should have been sent off.

Can't comment on the Lampard one as I ain't seen it, but apparently it was a shocker of a decision.

That is one of the worst decisions I have ever seen. It isn't even debatable.

I reckon the liner felt the wrong decision was given to Lampard, therefore gave a piece of his own 'justice'

Can I just check I get this. It's quite difficult, and although Megson says I'm quite intelligent, it seems not.

Boswinga cannot be given punishment because the assistant referee saw the challenge.
Lampard has had this punishment retracted, despite the referee seeing the challenge.

I definitely feel as though I'm missing something but cannot put my finger on it. Is it another Liverpool rule change :conf:

Presumably the key difference is 'The linesman saw the challenge... but did piss-all about it'.

I read online somewhere (can't remember where) that Mark Clattenbridge had been sacked. Had he accidently sent off any top 4 players??

It's for being a bit too busy with his credit cards.

I thought the Bosingwa one was more comedy than anything. It wasn't vicious (Jay Bothroyd), an attempt to break the leg of his opponent (Guthrie) or anything like that, it wasn't even a kick but more of a shove over.

Obviously he should've got a short ban but it wasn't an attempt to injure Benayoun.

In fact it was more comedic how the linesman is stood a yard away waving his flag for a Chelsea free kick

Said linesman is officiating along with Stuart Atwell (he of the Watford/Reading 'goal' debacle) this weekend. Bent decisions ahoy!

Yeah well Styles has a 'get out of jail free card.' Or something to that effect, as the FA keep allowing him to apologise and leave him there. I wouldn't be surprised if they're using him as a new experimental way of encouraging refereeing standards.
