I've also noticed that Wenger has allowed Fran Merida to represent Spain despite not allowing 4 less senior players to represent England

Not really "allowed", Spanish players are mandated to answer the call up or have their licenses suspended.

He came to give a lecture at my uni, and mixed with the students afterwards. Very approachable guy.
