Newcastle United announce new stadium name

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

To be totally honest, I'm starting to feel bad for that lot. That's pretty humiliating. It's even worse that if they just changed the name outright to Sportsdirect Stadium, the owner is rubbing it in their noses while all the country laughs at them.

Me too, except for when Ian Collins is on. :D

The stadium naming issue is apparently setting out a precedent in terms of format, in that whoever does take over the naming rights will have to adhere to the company/brandname@St James' Park style.
The think I read suggested it wasn't quite so rigid as that, just that any future name must include 'St James' Park' in it somewhere. Why they just couldn't call it 'St James' Park sponsered by Sportsdirect.com' is beyond me. Still rubbish but way less so.
