Trouble in the hills
I've just been browsing the Blackburn site BRFCS and they have all turned on Allardyce big style after tonight's leathering at the Council House. They're even suggesting replacing him with either McLaren, Souness or Shearer. Which seems a tad excessive.
Mind you, I watched the game on ESPN and Rovers were shite for long periods. I wonder if the Ginger Mourinho will apply?

No surprise there then. If Blackburn where winning there wouldbe no complaint but as they aren't then the discontented start to get complain more. Happened to Sam at Newcastle as well, so his star is definitely very low in the sky now.
I believe that it all comes down to the familiarity of his style of play that everyone has worked out how to defend against now and when you do its easy to beat. Very similar to how Bolton have struggled since January 2007, without that little bit of extra skill (JJ like) that made all the difference before that.

Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

It strikes me they have a very poor squad no matter who manages them. They don't appear to have much of a budget with which to rectify the situation either. It'll be interesting to watch this one develop over the next couple of months.

he did well last season considering where they were when ince left
but he doesn't seem to be taking them on any further. i reckon they'll be safe from relegation but they've put some pitiful performances in this season and allardyce's usual trick of solidifying the defence isn't working. it's about as bad as ours.

Troubled times ahead
Don't it just make you glad your a Bolton fan?
On the face of it looks like BSA's stylehas been sussed or and I think this may have some bearing on it, the standard of defenders in this league has gone down hill with nearly every teams enthusiasum and concentration they apply to forwards beginingto show through! Legacy of Kevin Keegan?

Nope. Same number of points as us last season, after taking over mid-season from their very own Sammy Lee. Above us this season. So no. Nothing like as poor as Megson.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Indeed you are correct.Lord Kangana wrote:Nope. Same number of points as us last season, after taking over mid-season from their very own Sammy Lee. Above us this season. So no. Nothing like as poor as Megson.
Done this somewhere on a different thread, but Allardyce at Blackburn has:
P52 W17 D16 L19 - 1.28 points per game
Megson at Bolton = nothing like.

Not that i ever will sympathise with our banjo playing friends from up the road, but they do sound like we did a month or two ago. Prehaps we have started another trend in this League!!!
Life is not like a box of chocolates , it is infact , like a box of chuck norris roundhouse kicking you in the face. And if you recieve a box of chuck norris , you always know what your gonna get.

In our first year under Megson from a very similar position to where Allardyce took over Blackburn we finished 16th.
Last year we finished 13th.
Allardyce finished 15th in his first year so thats one place better off.
They'll do well to finish 13th.
So end result is a very similar performance, least thats how its looking now!

Its not important how I look at it. What is important is that b*llox aren't allowed to replace facts. Even with the sh*t job Allardyce is doing at t'Rrrovers, his record is still superior to Megson's. The only similarity is that they are both football mangers. But then so are Wenger, Ferguson and Mourinho.
Please don't allowed the fact that you backed the wrong horse (one that hasn't a good word to say about the fans) to cloud your judgement. Or that Allardyce slept with your missus or ran over your cat or something. Megson was a poor appointment. We made a mistake, we're attempting to rectify it. Finally.

Yes you do - you want to look at position, W4E at points per game...BWFC_Insane wrote:I don't care how you look at it.Lord Kangana wrote:Nope. But 'whichever way you look at it' I got more points for my money under Sam, more european football, more excellent football, much better cup runs, infinitely better performances against the top four...
So, go on, what was the way in which Megson even compared with Sam... Other than in the literal sense - he compared badly...

I'm surprised at how bad Blackburn are doing. They have got good players - Robinson, Chimbonda, Samba, Nelsen, Dunn, Emerton, Diouf, McCarthy, Roberts. N'Zonzi looks a good young player in the DM role also.
Maybe BSA has lost it, maybe the team in this league are better at dealing with his direct style, maybe as he says they are a decent finisher away from the mid table comfort zone?

I thought you were against 'fan power', and this against a man who is undoubtedly and undisputedly a better manager than Megson ever has, or ever will be?FaninOz wrote:Interesting article in the Mirror

One comment there says they should have got Mancini instead of Allardyce, and we thought we were deluded! Cup semi and solid league position, they make our lot look very realistic.

Mancini was actually in the running for the Rovers job but was passed over for Allardyce, I understand. Strange, but true!Prufrock wrote:I thought you were against 'fan power', and this against a man who is undoubtedly and undisputedly a better manager than Megson ever has, or ever will be?FaninOz wrote:Interesting article in the Mirror

This is just terrible logic. Last season, Megson spent more than £15 million in the summer (£5 million more than Ince). Allardyce took over when Blackburn had only 13 points from 17 games (by my calculations). He spent very little in January, and still finished level on points with Bolton.BWFC_Insane wrote:I don't care how you look at it.Lord Kangana wrote:Nope. This summer, Allardyce spent about the same as Megson (and considerably less in net spend

Just goes to show what a poor job Megson did with the resources he had.
