He's quoted you on there anyway brizzle. Its their funeral if they wish to believe his hyper-ventilating nonsense. Which plenty of them do.
(Summary: Megson got us in to Europe, brought in better players than we had under Allardyce, we're ungrateful etc etc....)

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Sometimes you just wish this kind of shit were true....Yon poster on Owlstalk wrote:I have it on good authority that BWFC fan is Meggos younger brother Barry. I kid you not.
But even a brother couldn't love someone as much as Sir Nutsack does our Gary.
Does anyone know if Gary is aware he has a stalker?

Bwfc Nut - Your lengthy reply kind of breaks some rules of human communication - namely that you have taken what I wrote and replied as if something else was written! Particularly the bit about looking at how Megson's signings were playing at the TIME he left, as opposed to their general qualities as players, or how they look now.
Still I can't be arsed replying to it, I am not interested in entering into a popularity contest on another club's forum - they will see soon enough.

That's probably why Jermaine Johnson got dropped, you know?! I hear that he pitched up for training one day claiming that both he and Eddie the Eagle Edwards had just had two's-up on Victoria Wood!

You do not support BWFC nutty it is physically impossible for one to hold such inept, crass and down right stupid views such as you hold over Megson and not be an inmate of Rampton.

Hi
Im a Wednesday fan who lives in Bromley Cross, Bolton.
I went to watch Bolton under Megson and go occasionally now (im going to the West Ham game on Sat).
Megson was never popular from the moment he arrived at The Reebok and I can say, from experience, that he was never given a chance.
He came to you and did a job - namely he kept you up.
He turned an old team into a young team and many of his signings were inspired.
His footy was not great to watch but he kept you up and made you the force you are now (top-mid table).
Meggo is a Wednesday legend so we naturally took to him quickly and i can see the impact he is having, slowly, on a crap squad left to him by Irvine.
The one thing that seems most true, is you lot are more obsessed with him than he is with you!

Re: Megson Watch
The old team into young team is a myth thats been exploded on here about a thousand times. Same for the squad. If Worthy4England can be arsed he'll probably show you. Though I think he's fed up of having to do it.
He took over in 20th, left us in 18th. Spending plenty more money than any of his predecessors or his successor in the process. And achieving poorer results.
As for him making us the force we are now, which part of the plan involved us being in the bottom three, being really shit with defenders playing on the wing and the club record signing, that he signed, being dropped to the bench along with our Jumbo-Jet filling number of fullbacks whilst desperately in need of a midfielder who knew how to play football? Or the 4-5-1 with 3 defensive midfielders at home to relegation battlers?
With a view shared by Forest, Leicester, Blackpool and Stockport fans (that I've spoken to), it seems its not us. Its the majority of fans from the majority of clubs he's managed. It is indeed Gary. He's just not a manager. Puts in a shift though. And he's got you lot fooled. So kudos to him for that.

He didn't make us the force we are, far from it
But you are right......we do need to get a life somewhat! And I've posted in this thread! We don't even follow Allardyce's career to this degree....now where is he again?

I suppose for a fan of another club who didn't go to, or closely follow, the majority of games under Megson, it is hard to understand our views, and we seem ungrateful. Some points:
1.) I don't think the majority of our fans turned on him until last season. Yes the football and tactics were generally dire in his first two seasons, yes he upset a lot of fans by playing a weakened team in a winnable UEFA cup game, and yes he really seemed to take the flak he got early on to heart and never developed a relationship with the fans. However most fans understood that Big Sam had left the club in a mess and Megson, with it should be mentioned tremendous support from the owner and chairman, was trying to rebuild. It should also be stated that we were very, very lucky so stay up in 07/08. We stayed up by 1 point, but played badly at Middlesbrough and Tottenham towards the end of that season but somehow managed 4 points, whilst both those teams missed numerous gilt edged chances and our stand in goalkeeper performed miracles.
2.) The big problem started in the 2009 transfer window, and continued throughout the rest of 2009. First he spent £8.5m on defenders when that part of the team was functioning ok. The central midfield was devoid of creativity or any ability to retain possession but he only added one player there, a defensive midfielder, Sean Davis who unluckily for all got injured in the first few games. Until he was sacked the team played terribly, the defence, which by now Megson had spent £17m on, conceded lots of goals, the midfield was predictably terrible, and the attack containing Megson's flagship buy that was the £8.2m Elmander was looking goalless and disjointed. The only creativity came from an untried 21 year old winger from South Korea (Chung Yong Lee) who luckily for everybody settled far quicker than expected. And throughout all this Megson's tactics were non-existent, aside from the whole team charging around the pitch with no particular shape, and he continued to be distant and at times downright disparaging to the clubs fans. By the time he left the club had little confidence, morale, points, respect and most of us were struggling to find the energy to get to games.
I hope for the sake of Sheff Wed fans he does better there. But I predict that whilst he will probably get you out of your current hole, as that kind of predicament seems to suit his backs to the wall, hard working, honesty ethos, he will never produce a team to get you out of even that division (whilst he is manager that is), nor produce a team capable of playing attractive football. We shall see.

ZULU!! Where's the Enfield!!??
Re: Megson Watch
I would also add Bristol Wanderer3 that when Megson arrived, he said don't judge him on the squad he inherited but judge him after he had stamped his own mark on the team.
Granted, a good percentage decided (rightly) that he was a awful manager and we could a lot better. There was also a large percentage who accepted him as our manager and would do as he asked and give him time to mould the team.
That was where Megson went wrong. After more than 2 years of playing this really awful, negative, relegation style football the remainder of the fence sitting fans made their decision and enough was enough. He had to. He had certainly stamped his style of football and management on the club and we, the fans, were not happy. Except of course Sir Nut, who surely is a close relative of Megson himself.
When all said and done, he just wasn't up to the job. He had split the fans who were fighting in the stands and on the net. There was this anger and hatred which is not healthy.
I really don't envy Wednesday at the moment. No one deserves him.

Hi Bez,
you're very welcome here - you have put your points in a reasoned and non-abusive way (you are wrong on some of them - like the oft-repeated "youth" point - but then I guess you have been reading BWFCnut - or whatever he calls himself nowadays.)
we have no beef with Sheff. Wed. - we're very happy with Owen Coyle - content with our situation at the moment.
We are delighted that Megson is your mananger and not ours - and we are thrilled not now to be paying him squillions of quid for gardening leave.
You are very very welcome to him - and I hope you are all very happy together.

Re: Megson Watch
Will never forget his last game. The way we coughed up a 2-0 lead at home to fecking Hull. You knew it was all over, then and there.

Re: Megson Watch
I actually hung in there with Megson longer than most. The reservations I had about him from the onset were realized, but he did keep us up and he did get us some longer term players who were quite decent although at a cost more than our club could really afford. When he got the axe I supported the decision as it was the time for him to go. To me he was gone and time to move on. I felt some bolton fans did obssess with him, the reason I follow this thread though was Megson's obsession with us. He still whines every few weeks. One of our legends even wrote a column pleading with Megson to move on and focus on Wednesday.
Anyway welcome to the site, and I hope things turn out o.k. for your club regardless who is managing it.
