Re: Tonight's Football
Anyone see McDermott's post-match interview? He looked like he'd been sobbing.

I thought he'd been crying too.. Not surprised really.
Fair play to Arsenal but with a competent ref, Reading would've gone 5-1 up and maybe 6-1 up and Koscielny (who went on to score) would've been sent off.
The ref gave Arsenal the decisions out of sympathy.

My dislike of Arsenal is matched only by Liverpool and exceeded by nobody.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Tonight's Football
This thing with Clattenberg....the Met Police getting involved after a complaint by The Society of Black Lawyers.....just seen this on the BBC website:
"Peter Herbert from the Society of Black Lawyers tells BBC Radio 5 live why he reported the Mark Clattenburg case to the Metropolitan police:
"I'm not really a football fan so I didn't see the game. I saw the rolling news and it became clear there had been an incident. We waited until the next day and it was widely reported in the media who gave details. I consulted with my colleagues in the organisation and we decided to formally report the matter to the Metropolitan Police.
"The purpose of that was to make sure it had been recorded as a racial incident. That doesn't prejudge it but it has the appearance of a racial incident and anyone can report it as such."

Re: Tonight's Football
Would they have intervened if Mikel had some something referring to the colour of Clattenburg's skin?
Fair play to 'em though. If something was said, it needs to be dealt by the law, but that seems a tad 'one way' doesn't it?
Is it just me?

It's because they are an interest group. They are only ever going to get involved in things that further that interest. There is nothing wrong with that, though people will rightly take things they say with a pinch of salt given they obviously are not unbiased and independent.

If that interest is money, then yes, they are an interest group.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Tonight's Football
but he didn't witness the incident and wasn't in the vicinity and knows nothing more about it than you or I. surely it's up to the victim to report it to the po-po?Prufrock wrote:It's because they are an interest group. Re: Tonight's Football
Not necessarily the victim, but somebody who did at least witness it, yes. I very much doubt the police have decided to launch an investigation solely because someone from the Society of Black Lawyers has rung up and said they've heard rumours about a thing.

Don't mind Arsenal. To think that they are a match for Liverpool is mind-boggling to me.boltonboris wrote:My dislike of Arsenal is matched only by Liverpool and exceeded by nobody.
But how is it possible that their players were thick enough to throw their shirts into the crowd before extra time?

It's probably because everyone associated with Arsenal, in any capacity, is a c*nt.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Don't mind Arsenal. To think that they are a match for Liverpool is mind-boggling to me.boltonboris wrote:My dislike of Arsenal is matched only by Liverpool and exceeded by nobody.

Still think he's a liability defensively though!
Re: Tonight's Football
He's good technically but he's a pish centre half.

Yes...I know it's the Daily Mail....but I got the link from the Beeb site.
The "Chelsea. Standing Up to Racism Since Sunday" banner did make me chuckle.
