Rooney might be out a while, Sturridge and Oxlade Chamberlain are both pretty useful, Lambert's had a decent start and Barkley looks like he might do well, but Welbeck is our best striker by a mile for me.
I dunno.

Northern Ireland fans chanted your only a cheap Gareth Bale at Ronaldo, he replied with a hatrick.
Re: Tonight's Football
Welbeck is dogshit when he has any time to think. England's best striker atm, by far far and away is Sturridge. Rooney if he's not tried to turn into a kebab.

Re: Tonight's Football
Not much sense behind that. Sturridge is good, yes, and so is Defoe, but to class Wellbeck as dogshit defies logic.Prufrock wrote:Welbeck is dogshit when he has any time to think. England's best striker atm, by far far and away is Sturridge. Rooney if he's not tried to turn into a kebab.

He goes to bits when he has time. When he doesn't have time, he's fecking brilliant.

Re: Tonight's Football
Danny Philliskirk is Tony's son. He played in the youth team under big Tony at Oldham along with my next door neighbour (also called Danny!). Danny Philliskirk then went to Chelsea's youth team and is still playing now, my neighbour joined our youth team and is now in the army!Bruce Rioja wrote:Is Joel Byrom a descendant of John?Annoyed Grunt wrote:Davies scores his first for Preston.....

I looked up the Byrom one as I asked myself the same question but couldn't find anything out to say the two were related. I seem to recall that Joel Byrom is a scouser but can't be sure.

Indeed, got talking to the Latic at work and he told me about TP's lad. Apparently Chelsea gave them £250K for him, then he ended up in Sheffield, then back to Latics.
Just looked up Joel Byrom and apparently he's from Oswaldtwiste and started his career at Blackburn, which thickens the plot somewhat.

My mistake, it was Stephen Darby I was thinking of, not Joel Byrom.Bruce Rioja wrote:Cheers, Fella.PC1978 wrote:Danny Philliskirk is Tony's son. Gary Cahill might feel a bit tonight like he did playing for us.
Having to do it all on his own with three statues next to him and 3 statues in front of him!

Re: Tonight's Football
This England midfield is absolutely awful.
Lampard, Wilshere and Gerrard. One paced. No invention. No bite. No snap. Nothing.
Rest of the team aren't much cop either. Wouldn't mind but we are making a very average side look better than they are.

Re: Tonight's Football
Credit to Hodgson for taking Wilshere off who has been absolutely abysmal tonight. Personally don't see all the fuss over him. Very average in my view.

EDIT: Ah, right, foolish me for consulting the BBC and FIFA sites, me hoping to glean such information, rather than just going straight to Wiki.

Looks like you're right. 53 UEFA nations are competing for 13 places. There are nine leagues. So, nine winners leaves nine runners-up playing off for four places. How the feck that works is anyone's guess but I've done as much spadework as I'm prepared to.
