Re: Tonight's Football
Surprised nobody has commented on Sunderland knocking Chelsea out of the Carling Cup tonight. Sunderland into the semi finals winning 2-1 AET. Got battered but Chelsea didn't finish them off after leading for most of the game.
Man City knocked Leicester out 3-1.

Re: Tonight's Football
They will stay 1-0 up aswell I think and just play the last 30 minutes. That's what happened last week in the Champions league anyway. Galatasaray and Juve played the last 58 minutes.boltonboris wrote:when they were 1-0 up.. Hahahahahahahahahaha

That's a special European rule.
Domestically, they'll simply replay the match

That is very unfair IMO. Unless it is Wigan of course.
In which case, it is completely fair and will only be completely fair if Sheffield Wednesday win 1-0.

Re: Tonight's Football
The only reason they do that in Europe is so that squads don't have to traipse all the way home and back there again to replay a match.
there used to be a rule where the result stood (domestically) after 75 or 80 minutes or something, but that was scrapped a while back..

If Wednesday beat Wigan 1-0 now there will be some angry Wigan fans they will say it should be a one all draw by rights due to DW breaking his leg.boltonboris wrote:The only reason they do that in Europe is so that squads don't have to traipse all the way home and back there again to replay a match.

Re: Tonight's Football
In Spain you play the end if a certain period of time has gone. Someone ended up trapsing across the country to play the last 8 mins a couple of years ago.
Here it gets replayed. Donny were 3-1 up away at Charlton when it got called off at HT. Lost the replay 2-0. Ouch!

Re: Tonight's Football
Joey Barton, what a bellend! Booked for sticking his arm in someone's face, not particularly violent but arm shouldn't bethat high. Leave it at that? No!! Gobs off at ref and kicks the ball at an opponent getting a 2nd yellow 30 secs later.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Tonight's Football
Barton is a knob-end. We have an entire thread, somewhere, that states this exact sentiment... He's incapable of evolving beyond it - his, and his family's genes, proves this. Arsehole.

Feeney playing well against Middlesborough. Some good runs and a couple of decent balls.

This bloke at Southampton. Has he made the slightest inroad into speaking English yet?
