In an uncommonly lucid moment Phil Neville has just described it as "a real signature signing".
Bravo Phil(lip), bravo.

Falcao a year ago was as good as they come in the world, but such a bad knee injury at 28.. It's probably smart not to have bought him outright, but these wages! Blimey.

Wages clearly set to match Monaco tax free ones. Plus a huge loan fee and £43m if they sign him next year.Athers wrote:Falcao a year ago was as good as they come in the world, but such a bad knee injury at 28.. It's probably smart not to have bought him outright, but these wages! Blimey.
On top of De Maria and Blind and Rojo. Amazing spending from a club who's financial set up is based on loans. I wish we had those problems !!!!
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

... and the windows isn't quite enough for them.
They completed 5 moves, in & out after the deadline, indeed 4 after the extra hour allowed for work in progress. I could get quite bitter if I let myself.

It's going to be pretty hard to keep Rooney, van Persie, and Falcao happy, although with the latter two injuries are likely. I just don't see how you fit those three plus Mata and Di Maria into the same team.

Well, they will have to rotate some players for the Champions Lea...oh, yeah, that's right...H. I just hope Di Maria and Falcao collide in training, both breaking a leg.

I don't want to wish injury on them, can't we just wish they both get angered by their lack of playing time and punch out van Gaal or something?Beefheart wrote:Well, they will have to rotate some players for the Champions Lea...oh, yeah, that's right...H. If they stick to this 352 then Di Maria will be out wide.. Falcao & Van Persie up top .. Rooney just behind.
------Falcao-------Van Persie---
Di Maria------Rooney--------Shaw
-------Blind-----------Mata---
-------shite---shite---shite------
Impressive on the attacking front if we are being honest but they will concede plenty. Seems Van Gaal has gone for the outscore tactic rather than clean sheets.
I love how all these "top" managers walk into clubs and throw masses of cash at a struggling side and then are made out to be some godly human being if things improve.

It does have a smack of a kid in a sweet shop though doesn't it.

When a player of Falcao's class becomes available for £6 million I guess you have to jump on it, particularly considering van Persie's injury history. Still, the gap in ability between the attack and the midfield/defense is almost comical.

I was that kid - parents owned a shop for a few years and I was in charge of the sweets. The reps cottoned on quickly and I had an endless supply of free samplesbobo the clown wrote:It does have a smack of a kid in a sweet shop though doesn't it.

My uncle had a stall selling sweets at a market for a while, so had a van full of them. I liked him better at that time than when he had a stall selling cheese.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I was that kid - parents owned a shop for a few years and I was in charge of the sweets. Understandable, though these days I'd probably prefer a cheese shop.Beefheart wrote:My uncle had a stall selling sweets at a market for a while, so had a van full of them. My mums stall just sold second hand clothes which was a bit shit for a child who wasn't into dressing up in oversize bras.

You lack imagination. Those bras would have made for a spitfire pilot's head gear

Half a billion quid to assemble a squad that ships 5 to a newly promoted team..
