What? No thread about the league leaders? Shocking

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

True dat. Dont fancy their chances if they are sans Torres ou Gerrard for any length of time. Definately going to have to up their performances is general if they are to win it. Got the Dingles next week though so i hope it doesnt come crashing down for another week yet.
Well Torres has already missed 6 of our 15 league games to date, and looks set to miss maybe one or two more. If missing over a third of a season to date is not 'any length of time' I'm not quite sure what is. We've not done too badly in his absence, it has to be said. Beat United and Chelsea without him.
Meh but he's had a lot of niggly injuries without being actually out for any length of time. He's a talisman, and knowing that he's there, only if its half fit and on the bench is a boost. Seeing as he now seems to be out till xmas (i think i read?), frustration could well creep in against organised teams, particularly at Anfield. The West Ham game was a case in point. Looked decent all game but lacked that cutting edge. I know you can bring out the 'beat United without them both' but i really really think you are very dependant on them. As United are on Ronaldo. Thats the reason i think Chelsea will win it, United second and you a close third. However even if Gerrard and Torres do stay consistently fit you are going to have to improve. You have played well at times this season but have also had more than the odd game you have been poor and scabbed a win. I know people say thats the sign of a great team, but not every other week.

From Blackburn Vs Liverpool
1623: Oof, that's got to hurt. Ryan Babel comes off for Liverpool and he is replaced not by Robbie Keane but by Nabil El Zhar.
Was Keane carrying a knock?

Batman said earlier that Keane wouldn't play today and a story will be released about him tomorrow :conf:

Sounds ominous

From what I can gather, Keane's supposedly on his way out in Jan to be replaced by David Villa.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get a couple of quid on this? :conf:

Liverpool are getting lucky every game, and i dont think they will carry on doing it all season...

Actually had fun watching the game as we were winding up some Liverpool fans. Robinson's first miss was absolutely shocking. He could have fallen on the ball and instead seemed to jump over it. Immediately Malaysian Bookie pay off chants started up. They grew even louder on the third goal when he casually sauntered back to his net when Liverpool had the ball and an obviously open target.

The game itself, have to admit Liverpool do not look like a team that even closely resembles a champion.

Regarding Keane. Is the story to be released regarding Keane or Batman? Not sure which one would be more interesting.

We'll need a new thread by the end of the afternoon, I fear.

When we look back in months to come and wonder how we're a few points off the lead, we'll only have to look at Hull, Stoke, Fulham and West Ham and realise that we've blown some opportunities of 'easy' home points. Incredibly frustrating, and we're still not firing on all cylinders.

Perhaps not. What on earth is going on with the Premier League this season?!

Odd really, none of them even scored a goal other week, then they all won at the same time last weekend, this week they all draw.

None of the top four in England, nor the big two in Scotland won this weekend. I wonder if that has ever happened before?

I'll be honest with you Blurred, I'm surprised that you've stayed up there for so long - I had expected Liverpool to have dropped down to 4th or even 5th by now. Fair play.

Weird season all round though this year. The bottom 15 are all within a midges of each other point wise and the top 5 seem to squander every opportunity they get to break away from each other. :o

Indeed, everyone seems very quick to write us off, and goes on about our dropped points against Hull and West Ham and the likes, but then all the clubs have been doing it. Chelsea's home form has been absolutely shocking, and United haven't exactly been pulling up trees, either. I think it'll be a genuinely close 3 horse race this season.

And 4 out of the last 5 seasons the side that's been top on Xmas day has gone on to win the league. Not that that means feck all, like :D

The last 180 minutes have shown that we can actually play football on occasion - ok, it wasn't against the best of sides, or even sides playing at their best, but 8-1 in two games without ever really looking threatened at the back and having been in positions to make our tally reach comfortably into double figures is a promising sign. With our run of fixtures, I'd hope to still be top or thereabouts when Chelsea come to Anfield on the 1st of February, and with the Blues having to go to Old Trafford, Anfield and Villa Park in their next 3 away league games (compared to the Britannia, we could see some interesting times ahead. If our recent performances are a sign of things to come, then it's promising that we've got to the top without playing well and are now kicking into gear.
