There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Emotional investment in footballers is a dangerous thing. :(
I'm sure that van Persie did want to win trophies with you, but he, like Nasri and Fabregas before him, realized that wasn't going to happen as long as Wenger continues to value his principles above silverware.

Principles schmisiples. They've got no money after Ashburton.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I suppose another way to look at this is that Arsenal won nowt with these players.

Perhaps they will have more luck with a total re-build.

Trouble is they should have started with the manager!

He's doing a good job competing in the market he is.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Why are Clichy and Nasri Judos? Are they massive martial arts fans or something? :?

Is he? It very much depends whether Wenger is truly seeing out a philosophy (in which case he's a complete crackpot who is shitting on the Arsenal fans from a great height) OR is acting as the boards puppet and taking the flak for their lack of investment into the Arsenal playing staff.

If its the latter I feel sorry for him. I rather think it may be the former though......

So in 8 seasons he has only managed 20 plus appearences twice. Given he is 29, as time goes on chances are he will be more prone to injury, not less. Whilst i don't wish injury on any player i really hope Man Utd will find they have bought a crock.

Obviously, i still wish we hadn't sold him to Manchester United but it seems that was the club he demanded to go to, clearly he was never a proper gooner at heart, wanting to go play there. Am gutted he has been sold, but we did get a good fee and if a player wants to leave is it wise to stop him? I'm still a tad angry with the club and Wenger, but actually i feel they had little choice and that is now more overwhelmed with anger at just how Robin van Persie has treated the club and fans. I hope he gets a rubbish welcome back at the Emirates. He deserves it, regardless of whether he single-handedly kept us in the top 4 last season, thats all undone now. Not that i am bitter or anything. Ahem.

GG heard it said on the radio that Arsenal never actually offered him a new contract? Any truth in that?

I heard that too, read it on BB sport, i think it was. Said they offered to make him the clubs highest ever paid player but didn't actually offer him a new contract. It all seems very bizarre. I also heard that RvP had different ideas from Wenger about the future of the team and thats why he left, but then elsewhere i read that he was prepared to stay given the signings we had made and Wenger told him it was too late. :conf: Not sure what to believe.

If he's hit his peak its only downhill from now on.

I think what it shows is that if he's injury free and playing regularly he's pretty good - but he's not actually very often injury free and playing regularly!

And that's the problem, nobody knows what to believe. It wouldn't be so bad if they came out and said the 24M will be reinvested in the squad, but from what I hear it may not be.

Mind least you're not Bolton eh?
