I usually swerve this thread but i only came in to see what y'all were saying about him leaving.
I know its probably stemmed into a bit of an in-joke but im really not sure where all the animosity comes from? i have absolutely no feelings about him, just dont care enough to even think he's a prick?
he certainly wont be missed! although it might have been fun to see him go up against Ian Holloway!

Torres would have to leave under Megson - there'd be no point keeping a tiara on what is predominantly a shire horse.Lord Kangana wrote:Whereas Megson just struggles. And once Torres leaves, he'd be the only manager daft enough to spend money on Elmander. And as a bonus, Sir Nutcase would probably go and bother RAWK. Its win-win for me.

It's not an unfair question.General Mannerheim wrote:I usually swerve this thread but i only came in to see what y'all were saying about him leaving.

I began it in response to him, yet again, deciding that Stevie Me was too injured to play for England, yet fit enough to play for Liverpool. That links to club .v. country stuff, of course.
However, the actual animosity comes from the consistent cynical hypocracy of the man. I can cope ... just ... with bad losers, but Benitez is a bad winner. His persistent whinging about how Bolton were a set of cloggers yet when we play them the late tackles, the over-the-ball tackles, the stamping, the referee surrounding, the diving ... & indeed the (rather high quality, it must be admitted) preponderance of long-ball tactics came from them.
It was so hypocritical. He's the guy (& Wenger’s followed it) who would often leave the park without a handshake to the opposing manager, called Everton a small team, showed no respect to actual small(er) teams such as ourselves.
He played politics against the Liverpool board way before Hicks & Gillett turned up. He had a bunch of media savvy fans rally to his cause whenever he was in trouble.
He spent £gazillions on average players .... & hit a couple of indisputably good ones. He tried to hound Alonso out, but then whined when he wouldn't shift .... eventually then whinging a year later when he did want to leave. He wasted that cash on Acquilani, but now complains that the board won't fund yet more recklessness.
All in all he's been a disgrace to English football and, a lucky win of the European Cup aside his record has been dismal. The source of which, of course, is anyone but himself.
Otherwise, I have no idea ....
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler is hoping that Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp becomes the next manager at Anfield. Many high-profile names have been linked with the vacant manager's post at the Merseyside club following the departure of Rafael Benitez and Fowler believes that Redknapp is the man for the job.
He said (Press Association): "You want someone who has done well in the Premier League and knows how it works so you know, as a top man, why not Harry Redknapp?
"He's done fantastic with Spurs and he would be a very good manager for Liverpool. I'm not saying they'll go for him but he's done fantastic at all the clubs he's been at in the Premier League and so have Martin O'Neill and Roy Hodgson."
Redknapp is entering the final year of his contract at White Hart Lane and Fowler is certain that the prospect of managing Liverpool will be a big draw despite the fact that Spurs qualified for next season's Champions League.
He added: "Liverpool underachieved last year and Rafa set himself higher expectations with what came the years before but it was always going to be difficult to match that or beat that. It would be a good job for someone to take on. Liverpool's a massive club and they have underachieved in the last few years but in terms of world football, there are really not that many bigger clubs. We've got the chance to get someone in good but it remains to see who there is, because there doesn't seem to be many out there."
Fowler insists that whoever becomes the next Liverpool manager will need to be given funds to strengthen the club although he does not what cash to be raised with the sales of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard. "There is obviously talk that Liverpool aren't in a position to spend much money - but when they do get someone in, you need to give that man some money," he said. "Regardless of the pull of the club you need some money to bring some players in that he wants. It's a tough one, if any manager comes in, he'll need money.
"Both (Torres and Gerrard) are world class and if the new manager wants to win leagues and cups you need players like that so whoever comes in will want to keep them. Players like that win you things. Admittedly you get a lot of money for them but if you do sell them it's very hard to replace them. Torres has been phenomenal when he has played and averages nearly a goal a game, he's up there with anyone in world football. You want him to play in as many league games as you can and if he plays those, he's going to score goals. It's important they do well in the league, the Champions League has been done recently. The majority of fans want the league over the champions league."

Hmmm.
Former crowd favourite, wearer of the fabled number 7 shirt, worn by such Kop Legends as Andriy Voronin and Harry Kewell.
Now looking to return to his old club as a new messiah.
OK, it's not quite Kevin Keegan, but it's nearly there - come on Kenny, you know you want to.

I suspect it'll tail off as we hear less about him as he works his wonders in Italy. However, the title is "Benitez .... Prick", not "Benitez, that guy who manages Liverpool ... Prick", so I suggest we keep it open & revisit it from time to time.hisroyalgingerness wrote:This is getting quite dark, we may have to close the thread now
Agreed that we need to turn our attention toward another Premier League contender though. Wenger is suggested, though personally, I'd target 'Appy 'Arry. Still spending money like it's going out of fashion & sooner or later Spurs will realise they've spent up. He can then add them to the lsit including Bournmouth, Wet Spam, Southampton & Pompey that he's broken.
I bet he was shite at Monopoly (c) when he was a kid !
