In what way? If you're going to get snubbed, you might as well get snubbed by someone decent.

So they think he hasn't actually asked these good managers? Wouldn't be great publicity if they had to downgrade their options to, say, a relegation-haunted managerial pariah, would it?

Because atleast we went fairly realistic with our options, than trying to masquerade as a big club by offering the job to candidates who'll have barely heard of the club. All of which is going to make them look no better when they end up with someone like Souness or Coleman, or indeed McLaren.
