This is round 1 of the defense of Thaksin as he will try to drag the PL into international politics. It is going to be a fun ride, which I think Man City will be the ultimate loser.

Total utter bollocks he is simply trying to cut a deal by showing sincerity (this is impossible for him), so that he can remain the owner of the club. If he dumps it off on his kids, who also owe around $500 million in taxes if I recall, they will probably charged next which leaves him in the same situation.Cook said: "Dr Thaksin is embarrassed about the indignity brought on all the entities - the club, the Premier League - he never intended this." ........."He has said to me, 'if you need me to resign from the football club as a director, because it would serve the needs of the Premier League, then I'm fine with that as long as that doesn't change any other thing.'"
I love this quote. I guess you have to lose face to save face. Basically why pick on a piece of sh@t like Thaksin, when there are plenty of other pieces of sh#t owning clubs in the PL. A statement that is true but certainly doesn't rationalize why Thaksin should be excused."I think there is a very loose term about what is 'fit and proper'," said Cook. "It is almost a tongue-in-cheek term that you would use for Premier League football over the last 10 years. There are plenty of unfit and improper individuals."
This is classic Thaksin, and is designed for his defense to be granted exile in England. The man even staged an assasination plot against him in Thailand in order to gain sympathy. It is now time to try the ploy in England.Cook said Thaksin will not be present at Eastlands when City host West Ham on Sunday because of fears for his safety.
"He wants to be at this ground on Sunday but he is hearing advice about being in a public space," Cook added.

Get ready for the suicide hour of Radio Manc. if they lose ... or draw. Up there with X-Factor auditions on car-crash media events.
If they win, be prepared for claims that whoever scored, achieved a pass, won a throw-in or even parked their car reasonably straight is destined to be the new Colin Bell.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

it just gets worse .... good.
Thousands of protesters have descended onto the streets of Bangkok to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and his cabinet.
They occupied the offices of the state broadcaster NBT and surrounded the main government offices, forcing most civil servants there to stop working.
One report said protesters had scaled a wall at the prime minister's compound.
The protesters say Mr Samak is merely a proxy for former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, now in self-imposed exile.
Organisers of the protest - a loose grouping called the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) - are united in their hostility to Mr Thaksin, says the BBC's Jonathan Head in Bangkok.
The alliance has repeatedly been able to bring thousands of supporters onto the streets this year, and been allowed unusual leeway by the security forces

Well it is not looking good for Thaksin's puppet government right now. Police due to brutality accusations have lost any support regarding the Demonstrators. The trains have stopped, airports sieged, and pressure has been building on this government to step down. I think the leader is gone by Monday, but it is possible the Government may have to dissolve by tomorrow as Samak was granted an audience with the King late this evening. Thaksin wants this government to stay in as long as possible. Even this government is asking for a coup because if there is a coup it justifies Thaksin leaving the country. Anyway it is very late and I'm beat but hopefully something will happen tomorrow morning. Most analysts think this will continue for a bit, but I think the King might just put the question to Samak tonight. "Who are you loyal to Me, or Thaksin?". The Rumour was when this government was funded and put together by Thaksin, he paid Samak one billion baht to be the leader. I am sure he had to meet some targets though before he got the full whack. If my assumption is correct I think he has a real dilemma on his hands.

Cook has replaced Thaksin's lawyer (Noppadon) who was his spokesman last season. Noppadon with no political experience was appointed the Foreign Minister for Thailand in the latest Thaksin puppet government. It was he who on his 1st day in office gave Thaksin his diplomatic passport back. It was also he who caused the huge recent conflict with Cambodia for signing off a temple without any cabinet approval. The belief was so that concessions were granted to Thaksin on a casino resort his is supposed to be building on an island he owns in Cambodia.officer_dibble wrote:I saw a piece in 'The Game' last Monday (you can tell it was a Bank Hol cos I had a minute to read the paper) about that cook chap, slating his vision for the future, supposed to be a feller straight out of PR and Spin school....cant recall the details though....
Anyway the Meeting between PM Samak and the King is today at 5:00. Supposedly to update the situation, but hopefully a few more words will be spoken.

To be honest where I am it is pretty quiet. Actually in the pub it is very quiet. I have lived through 3 coups and numerous demonstrations where people are actually getting killed. This is VERY vanilla relative to any of those.bobo the clown wrote: From door ... "Knock-Knock"

My big day is September 17th when they are supposed to read the verdict on one of Thaksins cases. If all goes well the bubbly will be flowing that night.
