He's got the talent to be much better than he is. I wonder what he could have accomplished if Allardyce had been nursing his fragile ego for a few years.

I was surprised too, but also delighted to have a Spain - USA game in the semifinals. Now, I hope we manage a convincing victory else my yank friends will give me stick until the end of days.

 at Italy though.

I cannot stand the Italian National Team and I am thrilled by the results. Diving, Cheating, Elbowing, Boring, Whining Thugs.

Cracking game, was a lesson for bolton on how to go about playing better teams, went at them from the first wistle, no negativity but plenty of effort.

Great USA performance. Not impressed again with the diving and cheating from Donovan and Dempsey, but other than that a well-deserved win

I'm strangely less pissed off than I expected, I guess the USA are becoming my second team after living there. Hopefully playing a final of a (shite) tournament should give exposure to the game in the States.

Fortunately my friends in NYC seem to care so little about football that I have yet to receive any scorning email!

Well, they got a stable professional league out of that.

If they go to win the whole thing you can bet on some shitty movie being made of it. Yanks love to win.

Don't we all, VI2?

I didn't watch the game but congratulations to our U.S. of A. contingent. From what I have read the team has a decent set of backs, a reasonably good goalie in Howard, and a brilliant work ethic. Anyone in there worth buying?

An incredible victory . . . too bad it was on before dawn here so I missed it.

Marred by another dodgy red card, what is FIFA telling their referees?

I'd give you some names but I'd be shouted down here, and Megson apparently isn't interested in buying anyone outside of the Championship. Could have had Bocanegra - captain of the USA, 4 years EPL experience - for free last year. Instead we spent 2 mil on Shittu.

I liked Bradley in the midfield. Great workrate and positioning. I guess he gets stick for being the coach's son.

HP, think of all the cheap puns you can make out of Shittu's name, that's surely worth 2 mil!
