Celtic - What the hell were they thinking?!

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

They should get Megson in.

If he showed any glimpses of improving them he wouldn't

The clever money seems to be going on Lambert......which would free up a vacancy at Norwich for Megson

Besides which, it ignores the fact he's not going to. A moot point I believe they call this. In comparison, however, recently Paul Jewell, Ian Dowie, Les Reed, Paul Hart, and many more I can't be arsed remembering have managed teams rooted in the bottom three. I wouldn't want any of them. Or Gary fooking Megson for that matter either.

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Sacked a manager who did well in the Championship, but badly in the Premier League for one who is doing well in League One. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

As for Owen Coyle being 15/1, I wonder if there's some bets outstanding from after he turned the job down, stuff like "Owen Coyle will be manager of Celtic by such and such a date" and they're looking to deter other bets just in case he does swan off and they have to pay out at stupid odds.

Just means they boo louder - probably with a drunken lilt of sorts.

Hey, even Meggo might win one of the Old Firm a title or two. Or is that taking a statement too far? :? 8)
Souness had never managed before Rangers actually, and had more money at his disposal than the entire Scottish league combined back then.

Anyway, how does Big Eck square up in your equation? Hounded out of Rangers for being pish, yet arguably manager of the season in England this year?

After having more money at his disposal than any other Birmingham manager before? And doing nothing more than what Allardyce did during his much-maligned spell as most under rated manager of that time?

Nah, smart money for MoTY is Redknapp. Or O'Neill. Unless Arsenal win the title.

I think, too, that to be classed as good, you really have to show it more than the once. Yes he's had an excellent season but he's also managed to get Brum relegated once too. Good management and slowly building a squad? Guess we'll find out next year...

Have to say I'm a fan. He may have loads to spend but he didn't splash it in january only bringing in (I think) Crag Gardner, who's a decent young talent. He didn't for what I can see spend that much more than Mick McCarthy at Wolves, who finsihed above them last year. Not so sure he actually was pish at Rangers, his face just didn't fit. Read somewhere he had a better record there than O'Neil at Celtic. Either way the fact Coyle, a Celtic fan, wouldn't leave Burnley for Celtic, but would for us suggests to me it'll be a lower League manager, or a name for the fans. Lambert is where my money would be, with maybe Roy Keane at #2. So glad Capt. Principles has been shown up for the clown he is though.

And no, I've not forgiven his comments ahead of our game v West Brom last year. feck.
Speaking of which, I noticed James Morrison was sat on the bench for them in one of their games recently.

What was that you were saying James......

As for McCleish, I dunno. He's done a great job this season, but the jury still has to be out. You only have to look at his succesor for the national team to see even shit managers have good seasons some of the time.

Well no, he wasn't pish at Rangers, but it's unusual for anyone down here to actually have much clue when it comes to talking about Scottish football, so I thought I'd get that one past to help my point

He actually did well for them, but he was an Aberdeen man with no Rangers background, and worse an Aberdeen man from that era, like Strachan, above all else, that is what counted, and why they both left after successful spells with the ugly sisters.

His replacement hasn't had the best start... Beaten 2-0 by Ross County in the semi-final (4th in Division 1)... Also, Jackie McNamara is the least charismatic person on the planet..
