Right, because it's not like anyone's slagged him off in the time that he's been here already or owt?!Mar wrote:I wonder if theres a more reputable website reporting this deal?
After all doesn't seem the most trusted of sources (at least wait till he's gone before slagging him off).

May the bridges I burn light your way

No worries we've got the dynamic Davies and Klasnic duo next year. The dads army of premiership strike forces. DONT PANIC! They don't like it up em and all that jazz!

Nay big loss for me, never worth the fee we paid and he never came close to living up to it. Bolton goes on and Elmander will end up hating turkey.
I'd sack him off on Sunday and give one of the kids a go up front

Fook me. We've some cretins. The lad is unbelieeeeevably frustrating. So much talent and so little application. A big strong unit who never ever made the most of it, often didn't seem to fancy it. Despite all that, and spending half the season in midfield, he is still our top scorer, and comfortably. I'm not too sure 18 in 91 is particularly terrible, though of course it isn't stellar. We massively overpaid for him, which has added to the sense of frustration. He was never worth £8million, not to a club like ours, but equally he is worth a lot more than nowt. That said all those apparently delighted folk seem to forget we go into next season with Klasnic, Davies and, well, no-one. And no money coming in from this deal to replace him. Not entirely sure why they aren't worried. Apart from LL of course, coz he knows we've got Sturridge in the bag.
As for his future. I wish him well in an ambivalent, not really bothered kinda way. Similar to TBH, he and the club made a deal for a certain amount of time. It would be nice if they'd wanted to stay, but equally I don't blame them for not doing. Best deal for them and their families etc. We'd all do it. I certainly don't wish him ill, but I'll not particularly be keeping a close eye on his career, like Eidur, or Cahill.
That's all if it's true of course.

The ginger one had been chasing him for one or two transfer windows. The French club (Marseille was it?) had always had a very high evaluation, from memory, PG presumably got the number down as low as he could then just bit the bullet and went all in.
At least we get those wages to use on someone else, there is a silver lining!

Yes we did pay loads yoo much and probably thats why we get frustrated with him.Prufrock wrote:Fook me. We've some cretins. The lad is unbelieeeeevably frustrating. I realise we get nothing for him, but he must be one of our biggest earners, so that should release funds to sign others who may not have as much talent but a lot more application.
Yes he has been our top scorer this season, but it should have been more.
Yes I may be one of the cretins, but I CARE, which is more than Elmander does, or he would have re signed .

Because slagging off one of our own players isn't gonna do the club or the player any good!Turkish Trotter wrote:Mar wrote:I wonder if theres a more reputable website reporting this deal?

First time for everything, eh?

Well no, because Anelka made us a tidy profit.

Re: Elmander signs for Galatasaray
I liked him and I wish him well.
Top goal scorer and put a lot of effort in this season. Certainly more than some others.
However, as has been said above, 8 mill was a lot for a club of our size, and I can understand those who think we should have got more out of him, particularly the first 2 seasons.
I was one who kept thinking he would come good on a consistent basis, but after 3 years maybe it's for the best.
Still can't help thinking we'll miss him next year.

Re: Elmander signs for Galatasaray
By whichever figure you go by, we still payed more for Elmander. Even the club accepts that.

Re: Elmander signs for Galatasaray
Well, it'll be an interesting point that maybe Worthy (if he can be arsed) could look into.
But I'd say the BWFC balance sheet will reflect roughly the following:
Anelka +£1.5m (give or take)
Elmander - £17.5m (give or take)
I'll reckon the give or take to be about 1,000,000 on each figure.
I'd say thats a reasonably important consideration given our financial plight. So yeah, more Anelkas, less Elmanders please. If we're not to be completely fooked very soon.

Re: Elmander signs for Galatasaray
i think he generally tried very hard
but he was the best runner down cul=de=sacs ever to play for us.
didnt look like he wanted to get into scoring positions in case he missed
wish we could have got something for him in Jan - not least because then he would not have contributed so hugely to our embarrassment at the semi.
thats all - 'bout sums him up for me
