Tonight's Football

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

I think you have probably missed a fair bit.

It was a punchline to a very old joke about NASA about an astronaut and a monkey...which he used to explain that on this occasion, the job of the astronaut was not to steer the rocket, but to feed the monkey (as the monkey's had been on NASA flights before, So the monkey actually held all the cards...basically he was saying Townsend's playing great, give him the ball. He told this at half time apparently.

Edit: found the joke...

NASA decided they'd finally send a man up in a capsule after sending only monkeys in the earlier missions. "They fire the man and the monkey into space. "The intercom crackles, 'Monkey, fire the retros'. "A little later, 'Monkey, check the solid fuel supply'. "Later still, 'Monkey, check the life support systems for the man'. "The astronaut takes umbrage and radioes NASA, 'When do I get to do something?' "NASA replies, 'In 15 minutes - feed the monkey'."

^Indeed. What I like about this is that what's overlooked is that, if it's offensive to anyone, it's to Chris Smalling. He's basically called him out as the standard 'stick the shithouse at full-back' and said 'try not to feck it up, and if it's not beyond you, pass it to Andros' :D.

As I said, Stan Collymore, the voice of reason! And it bears repeating: no-one sensible, no-one, who has read what Hodgson actually said thinks anything untoward has happened. Kick It Out have said they're happy with the brief investigation carried out; Townsend says he's fine with it; and bar one whack job from a charity I've never heard of, no-one has said this is bad. So the next time Hoboh and the Daily Mail want to have a big rant about 'PC gone mad (if you're even allowed to say 'mad' anymore)' can we remember how this has all been dealt with fine.

Hodgson handled it perfectly for me. Didn't mean any offence; graciously apologised if anyone had somehow construed offence; everyone is friends.

Same for me. I wouldn't allow them the drive (for example) as they're clearly not bright enough.

I know they the word has been used by some idiots as a derogatory term for blacks or Afro-Caribbean, if you want to be politically correct, but please don't try and ban the work monkey FFS.

Why do the press have to make such a mountain out of a mole hill.
Also, and I'm only messing, but this can be read slightly differently from how I think you meant it Malcy  !

Maybe Hodgson should've said gorillas or orangutans instead?

Mind, that's easy for me to say...

Decent game. I see the goalkeeper just 'made himself massive' (urk urk, fnarr).

Good.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Just watching WHU Vs City. It's like the old managerial master Vs apprentice scenario... Big Sam against Ian Greaves!
