West Ham are complete failures! Let's all laugh at 'em!

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

No, twitchyface would never do such a thing!!
Never.

'Redknapp, a former West Ham manager (on Parker's omission from the WC squad), said: 'They tell me Scott trained fantastically every day in training and could not have done any more.'

Then Jamie Redknapp actually took a holiday with Parker and Lampard earlier this month...
What's your take on all this Fozzy?

You must think it's Christmas one day and April Fool's the next.

Apart from the Redknapp/Parker saga and the continuing bleating by our Chairmen, I'm happy. The signings - on paper - look good thus far and if we can get Remy and a couple of defenders I'll be very happy.

I'm surprised you lot let Ilan go. You may miss his goals this season.

Agreed, but I think Grant intends to go 4-3-3/4-5-1 so maybe he feels Ilan wouldn't work in that set up.

Looks like they should have checked the chances of this guy getting a work permit...

I'm sure they were aware of the situation and just figured the Premier League would break the rules for them again. They won the World Cup, did you know that?

I don't get that. Serbia's in central Europe. Does he not qualify under freedom of movement?

Is Serbia in the EEC?

Edit: Not yet, it seems. Maybe that's why.

True, but neither's Norway and there seems to be no shortage of their lot pitching up.

True, but neither's Norway and there seems to be no shortage of their lot pitching up.

'Freedom of movement' is a concept in EU law. Last time I checked, Serbia just had 'potential candidate' status, which is one removed still from actual 'candidate' status (only a few countries have this... Turkey and Iceland are the two that come to mind).

Perhaps I was being overly cynical, but I felt that when we went to the Red Star Belgrade game, part of the reason everything was so tightly policed was that they could not afford to have any British loss of life on their turf, given how precarious their candidature was and the UK's role in that situation ( this, recently, was interesting: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/ju ... drops-veto )

Freedom to work also extends to the members of the European Economic Area, which, as well as the 27 EU states, includes Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland, but not Serbia. Switzerland also has a separate arrangement with the EU that sees them treated the same way.

fine those porkers!!! 8)
West Ham striker Benni McCarthy has been told by club co-owner David Sullivan to lose weight or be fined.
The 32-year-old has failed to make an impact since joining in February and missed out on a place in South Africa's World Cup squad because of his weight.
"It's like a jockey being overweight. He can't ride a horse and no-one is going to pay him," said Sullivan.
"I think we are fully within our rights to say 'you are not honouring your side of the contract'."
Sullivan said the former Ajax and Blackburn striker, who is South Africa's record goal-scorer, was being put on a weight-loss programme.

"We are not being unrealistic. We've given him a target of losing a kilo (2.2lbs) a week. He has to lose five or six more kilos," he said.
"He is training very hard so he must be eating or drinking something very wrong. Short of spending 24 hours with him, we have to assume that.
"You expect him to turn up in a state to be a footballer. We are not starving him. It's just don't eat ice cream, don't eat cakes, don't drink wine."
McCarthy is unlikely to be included in manager Avram Grant's squad for the opening game of the new Premier League season, away to Aston Villa on Saturday.

They were abysmal against Villa today. If Carew had more composure it could have been 6-0.

Who did Faubert b*** to get a loan move to Real Madrid? He is awful.

By the way, keep an eye out for James Tomkins. Future England international . . . because he's from West Ham, and he's shit.

Disagree. The young lad has been chucked in at the deep end alongside Upson, who has given him precious little support. I think he's got potential but needs to play alongside a bruiser like Collins or Vidic.

He can play alongside anyone this weekend for me! He might have potential, but at the moment he's fooking shiiiiiiiit. Davo must be hoping and praying he gets the nod this weekend!
