Slovakia had one tough defence there though. Superb in fact.

Re: Euro Championships 2016
Our build up play is so slow. Look at Wales, beat Slovakia and demolished Russia 3-0. We are too slow and too predictable and have no width. Played well first half id say but we don't create nearly enough.TANGODANCER wrote:Give it up will you. We didn't score because they defended lik demons. 149 corners, 76 shots on target and they hardly came out of their half. Cahill spent more time in their box than ours. Frustrating as fxck, but Hodgson did nothing wrong at all.BWFC_Insane wrote:Couldn't even win the group. Sums Hodgson up, no plan and winging it as we go.
There is no pattern or shape other than hope we can go down the middle or get a full back on the overlap.
It is so frustrating watching our decent strikers get so little service because we play such slow and ponderous football.
Team reflects the manager. Roy out.

Aye, immaculate timing. How to put pressure on your manager and players and destroy confidence, threaten em with the sack.BWFC_Insane wrote:We play runner up from group F. Could be Portugal. Had we won the group we'd have played a team that finished 3rd.
Roy's been told semis are minimum by Greg Dyke...

We'll play either Hungary, Iceland, Portugal or Austria.
That game will be on Monday (20:00 BST) in Nice.

Townsend is never good enough at this level in my opinion. We get our width from Walker overlapping.BWFC_Insane wrote:Townsend. But he hasn't taken him.....Nicko58 wrote:Who would you play out wide?BWFC_Insane wrote:Couldn't even win the group. Sums Hodgson up, no plan and winging it as we go.

Not necessarily start him but he'd be a good option to stretch teams off the bench.

He's lucky to be in the job at all. We should have won that group. We are poor. And Roy is picking a different team every time. As I said at the outset we've gone in underprepared. He hasn't a clue what his best side is.TANGODANCER wrote:Aye, immaculate timing. Portugal should beat Hungary with their tournament life at stake, which means that we should end up playing Hungary.Bruce Rioja wrote:Aye. Cheers. Walker can't cross the ball. Henderson isn't nearly good enough at this level, yet starts.Nicko58 wrote:Townsend is never good enough at this level in my opinion. Not sure that Alli is nearly good enough either. Runs a lot, what else?

I can imagine it'll be Portugal with that mincing ponce scoring the fifth and winning penalty in the shoot out. If England win they'll get France in Lyon.Bruce Rioja wrote:Aye. Cheers. Agreed with the slow ponderous comment. The number of times we drew 4 or 5 of their players into our half then by the time we finished slowly passing sideways they'd got all 11 back behind the ball.

Re: Euro Championships 2016
Since you're not going to desist, Walker has been brilliant in the last two games. Henderson hasn't starred granted, but we're not exactly coming home yet, are we?. We hammered Russia who also parked two team coaches in the goal most of the game,, beat Wales after running all over them whatever Bale says, and played a team of stoppers tonight who wouldn't have scored in a fortnight. Whatever we did tonight we'd still be playing a decent team next game whatever, and if we can't beat who we play, we come home, simple as. The match facts are: 61% possession, 29 shots, five on target (I'd have said more) and 11 corners. Sack the manager.....BWFC_Insane wrote:

As a slight aside, are our Knobheads managing to behave themselves this time? Quite a few were in T3 this morning having beer for breakfast.

Ambassadors for Brexit, Bruce?
In all seriousness though, this is probably the best England team I've seen at a tournament for years. Our possession stats are light years ahead of where we used to be. We might just have a twatting-giving in our locker here. Put Rooney back in midfield (inspired) and we're away.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Sorry Tango, Hodgson by not starting the same eleven that finished the last game fcuked up big time.TANGODANCER wrote:Give it up will you. The two full backs for nearly the whole first half looked shit scared at crossing the half way line and central midfield was diabolical, for the first 35 mins you'd think the players had only just met each other, fair enough we got chances but too late their confidence had grown.
Why pick Sturridge then not play balls for him to run on to?
Anyone who thinks Wilshere should be ahead of Rooney in the starting eleven should see a shrink, fast.

As soon as we play a team that tries to beat us and leaves a bit of space, we will do a lot better.

Roy 'Megson' Hodgson springs readily to mind.
Re: Euro Championships 2016
That wasn't good but none of the teams in group F should scare England. After that it might be a different story but hopefully Roy has learned what the best team is now and when we play a less defensive team we have the tools to pick them off. Russia had to attack against Wales and got thrashed. If they'd had to play more positively against us i think it would've been a very different game and result.

We've played three absolutely shite teams.Lord Kangana wrote:Ambassadors for Brexit, Bruce?![]()

We've failed to beat two of them and the third we only did so in injury time.
Possession doesn't mean anything as Leicester have shown this season.
Thinking possession matters is only something for Arsenal fans.
We don't win games because we spend too much time going sideways and backwards and we aren't direct enough.
Re: Euro Championships 2016
Perhaps we have, but how much of that is to do with us being shite and how much of it is to do with us playing three teams who effectively kept all eleven men behind the ball?BWFC_Insane wrote:We've played three absolutely shite teams.Lord Kangana wrote:Ambassadors for Brexit, Bruce?![]()
