Sky Sports: Bolton agree fee with Newcastle for Nolan

I'm sure the four and half year pocket filler will help soften the blow and nights out with a fellow Scouser.Dartisan wrote: All the very best to Nolan, and it'd perhaps be good to get a message to him to let him know that there are thousands of Wanderers supporters who DO appreciate the many years of stirling effort, and blood and passion, that he's put into our club, and that weren't as ready to right him off and chant stupid chants (aside from the fact it's undeniable he's struggled to find the Allardyce form he had a few years back).
Bet he really carn't wait to take the field and play for "those fans"
If they see him "play" may be a moot point tho'
Oh the Toon fans can be the worst if they don't like someone, and if Nolan plays like he did for us in past months they will be giving him stick before the end of February.Dartisan wrote:And there we have it. He could picture the passionate masses of the Toon army giving him the support he thrives on, not the crap our fans have hurled at him recently at the drop of a hat.jenkz wrote:The 26-year-old will wear the no. 4 jersey, and is delighted with the move. He is quoted by Sky Sports as saying:
"It's happened so quickly that it was an opportunity that was an impossible to turn down.
"I can't wait to start playing for these fans," he declared.
I do hope for his sake though that they don't turn on him, because they're perfectly capable of being fickle... that said, he's never likely to become the figure of fun and target for frustrations which he became here, so on that front he probably can't lose. It's one hell of a big V to those on our terraces who've slagged him off so easily, frequently & vocally during games.[/b]
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED
Aye and he'll get a bigger one back if he does!!!Dartisan wrote:And there we have it. I'm hoping that the club website come out with a bit more than this:

he's served us well and deserves more than a couple of sentences. This was pretty classy from Chelsea regarding Cudicini:

It actually makes me feel a bit sick.
When I heard on the radio it had gone through I felt angry, now I just feel sick.
What will all the wankers on here do now they don't have Nolan to abuse over and over.

What the f**k is he supposed to say? "I hate Toon, I was forced out by Bolton, this is a living hell".hoboh2o wrote:Bet he really carn't wait to take the field and play for "those fans"

not familiar with fans of other clubs then?Dartisan wrote:And there we have it. especially ones so kneejerk as newcastle
lets get this straight, we have our share of idiots who think that slagging off a player/manager at a match, but then so does every club with any kind of fan base
oh give it a rest fd. we're entitled to opinions when we feel a player performs below par such as nolan on wednesday night, and countless other times over the past 2-3 years.FD wrote:What will all the wankers on here do now they don't have Nolan to abuse over and over.
the weight thing has descended into parody as i think anyone with a brain realise he isn't fat, just a well-built type of person who when all is said and done has often struggle to keep with the pace of frenetic premiership football matches. nobody is really serious and the thing that was posted about that ankle op sums that up.
calling people who haven't been happy with his performances wankers for it is just ridiculous.
Judging by the way the club line takers on here become abusive when faced with a counter non BWFC opinion, I'd say turn on each other matey!FD wrote:Someone please remove that photo.

From reports it sounds like Nolan was up for grabs. That either means he was transfer listed or offered to clubs. Sounds like a club thing rather than a Megson idea, especially with how he treated the news at the press conference. Supposedly it was all done yesterday and signed etc today.
Nat Lofthouse:
“in my day, there were plenty of fellas who would kick your b****cks off. The difference was that at the end of the match they would shake your hand and help you look for them!”

I wasn't calling people wankers for saying they aren't happy with his performances. There are some posters who criticised the lad who I quite enjoy reading. I was calling the people who abuse him whenever they get the chance wankers, and I stand by it.James B wrote:oh give it a rest fd. we're entitled to opinions when we feel a player performs below par such as nolan on wednesday night, and countless other times over the past 2-3 years.FD wrote:What will all the wankers on here do now they don't have Nolan to abuse over and over.

YOU might think it had turned into parody, but that simply isn't the case with all users! People were posting his weight, saying how overweight for a professional athelete he was...People were saying it's because he's had a child that he's lost his touch.
You are entitled to your opinion James, of course you are, and I'm happy to read OPINIONS. I don't like reading abuse however. I'm also entitled to my opinion (telling me to give it a rest then stating that YOU are entitled to YOUR opinion is hypocritical in my opinion) and I still believe that the people who boo'd Nolan, called him fat (and meant it) are, as I previously stated...wankers.
Keveh, not sure if thats aimed at me, but I'm quite calm as it goes, hugely disappointed to see Nolan go, but even more disappointed to see some fans seemingly over the moon about it.

Fair enough Kev. Good luck, I feel you might need it !Kevin Nolan - http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/01/30/kevin-nolan-seals-switch-to-newcastle-united-72703-22817985/ wrote: It was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.
It’s all happened so quickly, and it was impossible to turn down the chance.
It’s a chance to play in front of 50,000 fans at a stadium like St James’s Park. It’s amazing really and I am really looking forward to the next four and half years.

Good luck to the lad.
He's been a pretty loyal servant over the years. But loyalty goes out of the window when £££££££ are involved. Sorry state of the modern game I suppose.
Frighteningly inconsistent. But i'll remember the goals at Old Trafford fondly.
Who will replace him? Who knows? Megson will probably panic buy a midfielder from the Polish Third Division at 11:59pm Saturday night.
I'm losing the passion I used to have for this football club.

Bolton boss Gary Megson was less forthcoming about the deal, however. When asked about the deal at his weekly press briefing, a visibly-annoyed Megson replied:
"For any more details you will have to go to the press office of the football club and they will let you know what we're doing.
"That's as far as I'm going to go with it."

I used to live in Newcastle, and still have two mates who are Toon fans, so yes I'm pretty familiar with them.James B wrote:not familiar with fans of other clubs then?Dartisan wrote:And there we have it. It's one thing thinking somebody's a bit shit and gone off the boil. It's another if they're your team captain and fundamentally depended on to be the heart of your team. I can't see Nolan ever being either of these for Newcastle. I'm not saying they don't have as many plonkers as we do, but the circumstances are very very different, so he's not gonna get it in the neck there like he has here.
