Sky Sports: Bolton agree fee with Newcastle for Nolan

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

And there we have it. He could picture the passionate masses of the Toon army giving him the support he thrives on, not the crap our fans have hurled at him recently at the drop of a hat.
I do hope for his sake though that they don't turn on him, because they're perfectly capable of being fickle... that said, he's never likely to become the figure of fun and target for frustrations which he became here, so on that front he probably can't lose. It's one hell of a big V to those on our terraces who've slagged him off so easily, frequently & vocally during games.
Aye, it's a thinly-veiled swipe do you not think
I don't see it that way. Bear in mind he's speaking to the Newcastle official site. They're very proud of their fans, even if the rest of the country thinks that they're a bunch of cerebrally disadvantaged, pot-bellied bastards.

Mate, it's hardly the drop of a hat. It's three years of poor play.

Hardly 'poor play', but rather, adequate. He's never recaptured the form of 2005ish, he's been poor in comparison to his former self.

My reference to the 'drop of a hat' is referring to within a match, because of those years of poor play. Rather than get the benefit of the doubt he can make one poor pass these days for us and that will result in a torrent of abuse. The Toon, at least for the time-being, will be an awful lot more forgiving (admittedly because they've not experienced the years of average performance, but there ya go).

If he thinks the Toon-charlies will cheer him to the rafters for the sort of lack-lustre performances he has offered up in recent times - he can think again - it'll be a very loooooooooooooooooooong 4 and a half years.....

Well indeed, after a run of lacklustre performances no doubt the picture in his head will run like it's had bleach sprayed on it, but I'm betting at the moment that's what he's picturing ;)

anyone think he'll go straight in the team - or will the pressure be on him to make an impact in the last 20mins..... not his forte! (or - maybe exactly the kick up the pants he needs??)

He'll go straight into the team on Sunday I imagine. Won't have to drop anyone outright as he'll just replace Barton from the last match.

The 26-year-old said: "I am absolutely delighted. It is about proving I am not just Mr Bolton and about going to next level and showing what I am all about. Newcastle have given me that chance."
Next level? My arse! :lmfao:

That's pretty much word for word what Allardyce said. Is Fat Sam his agent?

Answer my own question - evidently not

From BBC site

""Bolton boss Gary Megson made moves for a replacement for Nolan on Monday, when he signed midfielder Mark Davies from Wolves. ""

That would be a panic measure. Window shuts at 5pm on Monday.

One more conspiracy theory......

I wonder if something was said with Allardyce on Wednesday...maybe Nolan caught saying he'd kill to play for Sam again....and we didn't want to sell to him and Newcatsle did us a favour........

The speed, and the 'low' fee (in todays market) make this ever so suspicious.

Or he might have been allegedly sh*ggin gartsides wife

It is amazing hype surrounding the derby. I have heard so much about it since the move and I didn't even know they were playing Sunderland until I was on my way up here. It is a massive game to come into.
"They"...not "We".

This f**king sucks, it feels wrong, that photo looks wrong.

This is just plain wrong.

Barton injured Wednesday night. Kinnear looks around Thursday and finds out Nolan is available. Ties up the deal as quick as possible on Friday to a) please the toon fans b) get Nolan integrated with the toon squad so he is ready to play against Sunderland on Sunday.

If we had tried to fleece them they would have cleared off elsewhere.

What exactly for, we'll know more about come Tuesday.
