It may have done .... in Maradonna's head, which is an even weirder place than Gascoigne's head.

That said, I so want it to happen. It would be real life car-crash watching.
I know. It made my day just hearing the rumour.

Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean confirmed they are close to signing Schalke's United States international midfielder Jermaine Jones. "Hopefully we can push that through," Kean told BBC Sport after the 2-0 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

"We have great confidence in Steve, someone who impresses us with his work ethic, enthusiasm, positivity and football philosophy," said Desai. "We feel that the playing squad is in very safe and capable hands and we look forward to working with him. Stability is very important to us and this contract is further evidence of our desire to achieve such stability at the club."

Kean, for his part, insists he will do all he can to repay the seemingly increasing faith Venky’s have in his capabilities. The owners have shown great faith in me and I will do all I can to repay them. This is a great opportunity for me and I intend to grasp it with both hands."
B-Hell, I hope he has an adequate supply of vaseline !! .... or maybe he is 'self-basting'.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

Didn't he sign a new contract at Boca last month? After playing for them for free last season?

1.17pm: "Venky's have made an audacious bid to bring Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo to Blackburn from Corinthians," writes Jimbo Harvey, who sounds like he knows what he's talking about but may be a fantasist. "They heard of the Carlos deal from an earlier West Ham rumour and they have jumped on it - making it very clear that they need to make landmark signings as soon as possible."

See the headlines now 'Formica provides a classy finish'.

They'll be hoping to top the table with Formica
