Re: Tonight's Football
So, here it is!. By this time tomorrow the Euro final will be history, so might as well go subjunctive and say !Long may we remember this day" for so many reasons. Everything so far, outside of our homeland, says Spain will be a bridge too far, but being English hope never dies, at least for me. Nobody who call themselves neutral ever wanted Bolton to beat Manchester United in the 1958 F.A.Cup final, but we did, or beat the Germans and win the World Cup in 1966, but we did, so let's hope that fortune favours the brave and the three lions roar us on tonight.
The Spanish will want to own possession of the ball, but if we keep them out and don't let them score, Quien sabes? (who knows?)
I've never been Luke Shaw's greatest fan because he sends the ball backwards too often and that could be fatal against the pace of the wingers, but it looks like he'll get the nod over Trippier, so again we have to hope.
In short, I've never been a negative, so I ain't starting now. COME ON ENGLAND....!

I'm going to predict that if we score more than them, we'll be in with a decent chance...

Re: Tonight's Football
Tonight's officials are all French with V.A.R in the tender care of France, Italy and Poland...Hmmmmmm
Worthy of note ? ; none of football's normal headline front men, Lukaku, Ronaldo, Lewandowski, Giroud, MBapa, Muller etc, apart from the Spaniard Dani Olmo ( who has three same as Harry Kane,) have broken any pots here.

Would like to think that none of those nations represented there hold a particular grudge against England, barring the odd Brexit stance.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 1:48 pmTonight's officials are all French with V.A.R in the tender care of France, Italy and Poland...Hmmmmmm![]()

These are professionals so would expect a good representation anyway. It's not like Italy vs South Korea in 2002.

Yes, we really need fair officials. I hope we're going to be a bit more "robust" tonight and fight for the ball instead of running off attackers, but beware the agony aunts. It's all been said, but we have to boss the game and not be spectators to Spain's possession. Get in and win...Best of luck lads, go for it... May the spirit of Super Cyril be with us.

Re: Tonight's Football
Going OK so far. Seem to be letting Spain have the ball rather than press them like we did the Dutch.
Kanes done nothing of note as of yet. Still time.

Re: Tonight's Football
For me our plan is working defensively but I’m worried how little threat we carry. Feels like we lack outlets and the midfield ‘4’ for me are all struggling big time on the ball.
Re: Tonight's Football
Totally agree. We seem to be tracking back too much and not attacking as a tactic. There's no threat up top and Kane isn't running in a threatening manner.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 8:42 pmFor me our plan is working defensively but I’m worried how little threat we carry. Struggle to see where we're going to get a goal.
Re: Tonight's Football
Was ok, but we need a threat in behind. Watkins for Kane soon, please!

Is Southgate going to put a midfield on the pitch at all or just let this hapless lot be completely outclassed?
Re: Tonight's Football
Not sure we have that on the bench.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 9:17 pmIs Southgate going to put a midfield on the pitch at all or just let this hapless lot be completely outclassed?

Mainoo looks like a competition winner. Rice isn't much better.Mar wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 9:25 pmNot sure we have that on the bench.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 9:17 pmIs Southgate going to put a midfield on the pitch at all or just let this hapless lot be completely outclassed?
