Re: Tonight's Football
It's a close call but I've always not hated United as much as I have loathed City.
I can't stand 'em.
The shadow of OT looms large in Wogden, all my mates (and my brother) are/were reds and when the Supers were away we used to go and watch United.
I will say that at the age of 18 and at a height of 6ft I still used to get in through the juniour turnstile on the cheapest part of the ground (Stretford Paddock) and then we'd bung over into the Stretford End but please don't take this as some sort of 'United are my second team' admission.
I was disappointed with Rangers fans for slagging their local sides defeat against Juventus the other night but as the teams came out in Madrid yesterday I knew exactly how they felt.
It was only because Madrid have Ronaldo playing for them that I couldnt' bring myself to cheer for them too.
Where do you put the Scousers in all this?
It's tight at the top I can tell you.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Re: Tonight's Football
Gareth Bale scores a 40 yard freekick and a 25 yard one, and doesn't even have the best goal of the night!

His goals were very good, but on the whole, I thought he was quite disappointing. A lot more wasteful than normal, but then, he's trying more things as he's on a high.Relentless09 wrote:Gareth Bale was outstanding
Stelling's comments about him being better than Ronaldo are mind boggling.

I'm not sure he's as good as Ronaldo, no.boltonboris wrote:His goals were very good, but on the whole, I thought he was quite disappointing. A lot more wasteful than normal, but then, he's trying more things as he's on a high.Relentless09 wrote:Gareth Bale was outstanding

But he's certainly not miles off either.

He's a top (top Jamie?) player, undoubtedly, with a good claim to be the best in the Premier League at the moment, and a decent shout for best of the rest in the world; however, Messi>Ronaldo>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Everyone else. Bale's got 13 in 22 this season, and, in the form of his life, 10 in 10. Ronaldo has 37 in 36 this season and 183 in 180 overall. He's miles away. Bale even fecking dives more than Ronaldo now!
Bale takes better free-kicks though, and is only 23 too!

Re: Tonight's Football
The gulf in class between Ronaldo and Bale is enormous. They shouldn't even be compared.

Re: Tonight's Football
I wouldn't go as far as to say they shouldn't be compared. I don't think the gulf between Bale and Ronaldo at 23 is that big. But right now, the difference is huge.boltonboris wrote:The gulf in class between Ronaldo and Bale is enormous. They shouldn't even be compared.

Eh? But haven't you just said what I did? That Ronaldo is better but Bale isn't miles off? In a roundabout way?Prufrock wrote:Get out man!BWFC_Insane wrote:I'm not sure he's as good as Ronaldo, no.boltonboris wrote:His goals were very good, but on the whole, I thought he was quite disappointing. Bale is playing for Spurs.
I don't think he'd score as many as Ronaldo even in Spain for RM but I don't think he'd be massively behind either.

I don't think Bale would score anything close. Bale tends to run at the defence and score screamers and free kicks. Ronaldo is an all round scorer with a strikers instinct. He scores headers.. he scores tap ins he scores 1 on 1 and he scores screamers.

No! I said he isn't far off 23 year old Ronaldo, he's miiiles away from Ronaldo now!BWFC_Insane wrote:Eh? But haven't you just said what I did? That Ronaldo is better but Bale isn't miles off? Re: Tonight's Football
Bale is the only world-class player British player on the planet. Not the most consistent but he's still young (Ronaldo had some w*nk games at United too - believe it or not).
And to think he was loaned out to Walsall a few years back as he was struggling at Spurs

Troll and proud of it.
Re: Tonight's Football
If I remember rightly, Spurs failed to win the first 18 games or so that Bale played in.as wrote:Bale is the only world-class player British player on the planet. Not the most consistent but he's still young (Ronaldo had some w*nk games at United too - believe it or not).

Re: Tonight's Football
With all this talk of Bale's ability, we're missing one important thing. He's a diving wee twonk.
Re: Tonight's Football
I think that was partly due to the fact he was playing as a defender, and in that position was totally clueless.ChrisC wrote:If I remember rightly, Spurs failed to win the first 18 games or so that Bale played in.as wrote:Bale is the only world-class player British player on the planet.
