Match of the Day and Female Commentators

Post by Batman » Wed Apr 18, 2007 10:39 am

So, MoTD are to get their first regular female commentator - is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Personally so long as they know their stuff it doesn't matter to me, she can't be worse than the lot they have at the moment.

More importantly, is she fit for commentating on football?

I don't mind a change, as long as they get one from Sky Sports News

I agree with Dax, I've heard her a few times and she really doesn't seem much kop, and there's no banter with her and the co-commentator (not that that matters on MOTD).

If she looks like Gabby Logan, this can only be a good thing!

Women who claim an interest in football should be treated as spies until they've proved themselves. The jury's still out on Gertie and Perfan....

I'm generally from the Mike Newell School of Enlightened Thought when it comes to women's involvement in football, but I haven't heard much of this woman yet and I'm happy to give her a chance to prove my prejudices to be unfounded, especially when there are so many dreadful men doing the job. On a practical point, the tone and pitch of a female voice don't really promote euphony when something exciting happens. :|
