There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Bruce your icon looks like one of Astley's music videos are you a real fan?

There was always a rumour that Rick Astley was just Kylie Minogue's voice slowed-down. I don't know why I believed that at the time.

might be true coz
pete waterman was one bent bastard , i remember once he 'sued' that band m/a/r/r/s in the late 80s for using a snipet of a SAW record amongst the other samples , then about five minutes later stole the whole music from colonel abrams's "trapped" and used it completely in "never gonna give you up" by rick astley .. and i think the bastard got away with it .

the nice person ..

Nooooo, that's exactly how I dance after seven pints of Stella, I just thought I'd show everyone.

I seem to recall a tale whereby Waterman saw Astley singing in a Leigh working men's club and turned to the people he was with and proclaimed "I'm going to make a star out of that lad".

Please don't ask me how I've come to know that, or remembered it, as I've absolutely no idea, and to be honest, feel mildly embarrassed!

Are you confusing him with Chris Evans, who was a tea-boy at Picadilly/Key 103? You have been in the sun for about 17 fecking hours today. :?

No, just my understanding of the timing of his career was a little out....from Wiki
In 1985, Astley was playing the club circuit as a singer with a soul band named FBI, when he was seen by the record producer Pete Waterman and persuaded to come to London to work at the PWL recording studio. Under the tutelage of production trio Stock Aitken Waterman, Astley was taught about the recording process and groomed for his future career, supposedly starting off as the recording studio 'tea boy'. During much of his career prior to the proliferation of music videos, many listeners assumed he was black. Even after his visual appearance, it was still popular belief that he was miming for a black American singer. His brother Mark Astley helped to refute this assertion.

Hang on whilst I highlight the bit that supports my take.

However, have it your way. Please? You're more up to date on the globe-shattering discovery of Rick Astley than I am. :D

According to that, yes, after being spotted by Waterman singing in a working men's club, as I pointed out. You're point? He wasn't discovered whilst a tea-boy for SAW, was he?.
