Roberto Carlos set for Fenerbache...

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Roberto Carlos set for Fenerbache...

Post by Mich Caine » Wed Jun 06, 2007 7:48 pm

I was really surprised to see that Carlos is set to play in Turkey next season, I mean its such a crap league, surely he would prefer to play in England than Turkey for one season?

He would have been an awesome signing for us, the publicity he would give Bolton, he would do a great job at left back and give the team real spark - and we could play Samuel at right back.

Anyone else a bit gutted we didn't try and sign him?

He'd get less of that playing in Turkey than he would in England.
I think the reason we didn't go in for him is simply that he isn't good enough, anymore. No pace, can't defend - all he does is hit free kicks, most of which go off target, but the few that go in get remembered. We could get a better left-back than him.
None of which is meant to detract from him when he was at his peak, and a truly great player. But he isn't, anymore...

Is everyone desperate to ditch Gardner? We need cover at left-back - that much was obvious whenever Pedersen played there. There's also some doubt as to whether Gardner came back from his last injury quite the player he was before (although, to be fair, he was improving towards the end of the season).
But if he's fit and at his best, he should be playing.

Don't we? Dammit. There go all my suggestions for the "who should we sign" thread.

Roberto Carlos lost his magic years ago. I'm glad we are not linked to him.

Huge wages, we'd get one year out of him, and not that great anymore. Need more?

Exactly.

You could get Eddie Pope on less wages, and still get the same level of shitness.

To be fair, to compare Nyron Nosworthy to shit, is harsh on shit.
