Joey Barton Part 86

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Joey Barton Part 86

Post by warthog » Sun Jul 22, 2007 12:30 am

I'm hearing stories that he's broken a metatarsal in the friendly game at Carlisle. Anyone got any info on it? Bloody funny if it's true.

Should I be laughing at a player getting injured? Er...yes.

Out for 8 to 10 weeks!

So:

They needed a last second goal against Carlisle to come away with a draw.

Micheal Owen is injured as usual.

Keron Dyer wants out.

All their transfer talks have flopped this week.

And Their biggest summer signing has broke his foot.

Maybe we could use this game to blood some of our youth team! :D

Not a Smith hat-trick but a 1-1 draw. The first goal for Carlisle was scored by no other than Danny Livesey.

Well done Danny. And well done who ever broke scumbag Barton's foot.

According to this it is true.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 910550.stm

Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton will miss the start of the season after fracturing a metatarsal in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Carlisle.

Barton underwent a scan following the friendly match and faces six or seven weeks on the sidelines.

The 24-year-old England international only joined the Magpies in a £5.8m deal from Manchester City in June.

Striker Michael Owen was omitted from the Newcastle line-up because of a minor thigh strain.

The 27-year-old England star picked up the injury in training.

Barton made his debut for the Magpies against Hartlepool on Tuesday and captained the side at Carlisle.

Owen scored his first Newcastle goal in more than 19 months and Barton played well as Sam Allardyce's reign as manager began with a 3-1 win at Hartlepool.

Couldn't happen to two nicer blokes (Barton and the Chubster, that is)

But given that we've already lost Ricardo G, the logic suggests we've got one free laugh banked - I'm happy to use it here :D
