Sunderland to sign Craig Gordon for £9M

Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon has agreed terms with Sunderland and a £9m transfer from Hearts will be completed on Wednesday, BBC Sport understands.
The 24-year-old had been expected to hold talks with Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill before making his choice.
But Gordon has agreed a five-year contract to join Roy Keane's side after undergoing a medical at the club.
It is understood that Sunderland will pay an initial £7m, plus £2m in future payments dependent on appearances.
Gordon had spent two days training with Sunderland after a fee was agreed with Hearts.
The Edinburgh club's captain was expected at Villa Park, but Keane appears to have persuaded him that his future lies at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland had a £5m offer rejected in July, but chairman Niall Quinn had stressed on Tuesday that they were determined to get their man.

"If it takes a bit longer, so be it. We are not going to lose our nerve now. There are lots of bits and pieces going on behind the scenes.
"My message to our fans is that we haven't jumped in when an agent has rung us with a fashionable player.

He's undoubtedly a very good player, but £9M is over the top. Oh well, at least they won't be signing our superior 'keeper!

£20 million for Chopra, Richardson and Gordon. Something not quite right there.

£9 million for Gordon sounds like a lot but if he saves as many points for them as Jussi does for us then he could be the difference between survival and relegation, making him well worth it. £5 million each for Chopra and Richardson is still completely retarded though.

Maybe £5m at best - the golden figure for Sunnerlan's awesome, fear-inspiring signings.

Can't see him being worth more than £5m either, but then I'm still pissed off that they got Anderson for just £1m.

I was using sarcasm - comparing the price they're paying for Gordon to the price we paid for Reina... no way that he's worth that.

You can laugh, but Chopra has just won it for Sunderland with the last kick of the game.

100% Fredi, but I was slated for mentioning we'd missed a great signing at the time Keane snapped him up, and slated again by IQ58 this week after the O'brien signing, apparently playing in Scotland doesn't count as football
