Villa missing Cahill already

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Villa missing Cahill already

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill admits he may have thought twice about selling Gary Cahill had he been able to predict the club's current injury problems.

Villa have lost Curtis Davies and Stephen O'Halloran for the rest of the season, while Olof Mellberg has been struggling for fitness recently.

O'Neill told BBC WM: "If we'd know this then the situation of letting Gary Cahill go might have arisen.

"We might not have done it. But he was desperate for first-team football."

Cahill moved to Bolton for £5m during the transfer window in January and has settled into life at The Reebok Stadium well.

"At the time we had Olof Mellberg and Zat Knight and the one area we had cover in was at centre-half," the Villa boss added.

O'Neill's options in defence have been restricted following the serious injury suffered by Davies, who will be out of action until at least October after rupturing his Achilles tendon at Arsenal.

O'Halloran may have been an option to cover but the young Irish defender damaged knee ligaments while on loan at Leeds.
Well, their loss is our gain! :D

Let's hope it doesn't affect them too much. We need them to beat 'Boro tonight.

Well, they're losing at the minute.

Bastards 'Boro, you want them to win and they don't bother turning up. Want them to lose and they go and win.
