Ashley Cole gets Mascherano sent off.
Pretty bloody stupid to be honest. The guy hardly said anything to the ref and got a second yellow. This is turning out just as I thought. Referee's given licence to be prxcks.

Dont be such a cock
In fact, he should have gone after his yellow card when he three times told Bennett to fcuk off

Cashley made a horrid tackle against Tottenham, was disrespectful to the ref by refusing to acknowledge him while being booked. Refs made a big deal about how they need more respect.
Today Mascherano gets booked, argues a bit about it, ref gets overzealous wanting to abuse his newfound authority, scream out 'Respect me beeeyatch' and gives him a second yellow and hence a red.
Something like that

Bennett couldn't wait to apply this new approach. He was obviously itching to 'make his point', and make it in such a televised big game. He was probably discussing it with his chums in the locker room before hand.
There was sod all simalarity between Mascherano and Cole last weekend. I agree that players should be sorted out when they completely fxcking lose it like Cole did, but these Premiership refs are going to start throwing cards around like poker hands now.
So lets's get this reet
Mascherano gets (righhtly) booked for an (at best) ill-timed tackle
He then tells the ref to fcuk off three times
He gets told to shut up by said ref and still throws another fcuk off for good measure
He then runs 30 yards to question/dissent the ref, but shouldn't be sent off???????????
Aye, thats a good way to clean the agme up
I'd be chucking another charge at him for his antics post red card

Was a walking red all game, just a matter of time wasn't it.
No doubt he will get further charge for refusing to leave the field as well...

Wasnt there some paper tthat did a count on how many times on average Rooney tells the ref to go forth and replicate per game? Fairly sure it was in excess of 30.CAPSLOCK wrote:So lets's get this reet

Doesnt make sense to clean the game up, while only targetting certain teams. Next you'll be saying Ronaldo doesnt dive.

WTF has any of that waffle got to do with whether it was right to send off the Argie?lionelator wrote:Wasnt there some paper tthat did a count on how many times on average Rooney tells the ref to go forth and replicate per game? Ferdinand was booked for kicking the ball away
He was at Utd last time I checked
If the refs are starting to get a grip, they have my support

He's fast losing the title of football's "Buster Crabbe" to David Dunn of Blackburn. Everytime a player appears near him when he's around the 18 yard box he goes automatically A&MW (airbourne and mortally wounded) Did it yesterday for a tackle that wouldn't have felled a budgie.lionelator wrote: [Doesnt make sense to clean the game up, while only targetting certain teams. Aye, but Dunne doesnt then get up and hit in a free kick hes been practicing all year. Most of the stunning goals from free kicks Ronaldo has scored this year, have been won by dives. Let the refs clamp down on that first.TANGODANCER wrote:He's fast losing the title of football's "Buster Crabbe" to David Dunn of Blackburn. And Caps, what I was saying is, if refs are going to ask players to stop abusing them, it has to be across the board.

Somebody has to be first and I'd prefer it to be somebody at Liverpool than us
Hats off to Bennett

Fair enough. As you say in your sig though, be careful what you wish for. When refs come over and Nolan and Diouf go over to have a chat with them, we may be in a bit of trouble as well.CAPSLOCK wrote:I agreelionelator wrote:Aye, but Dunne doesnt then get up and hit in a free kick hes been practicing all year. Mascherano got Mascherano sent off. Always amazes me that people try to lay the blame at the refs door, when a player already on a yellow, goes and does something daft.
More strong refereeing like this and they could have stopped all dissent by the seasons end.

quite right Mr Genshaw and if Cole's actions mean that a few more refs won't take this kind of shit then good on them. Straw.Camel. Back. I have sympathy with both sides here, Bennett obviously was itching to make his mark because that's what he does best.
Mascherano had completely lost the plot before the card was shown, Alonso tried to pull him back but he was hell bent on getting to Bennett. Sky did a split screen showing Manuel's reaction to Mascherano's intervention and he knew he was gonna walk.
I watched WBA yesterday and Kevin Phillips clearly told the ref to "f*ck off you f*cking pr*ck", so i'd prefer some consistency if you please.
Lastly, the tackle on Hutton by Colewas disgraceful and was a straight red offence imo, and whilst Mascherano did deserve to get a yellow card,
I really don't see the comparison with giving a bit of lip to an ADULT who probably uses industrial language when in the company of other males, to trying to break someones leg cos you're a petulant tart.
I noticed Drogba got booked for taking his shirt off after he'd score too, whose career did that threaten?

Re: Ashley Cole gets Mascherano sent off.
Agreed. Booked early on and spent EVERY minute off the ball whinging at Bennett including (as Caps says) telling him to feck off several times (guess he's learnt some English eh...)CAPSLOCK wrote:BollocksSoldier_Of_The_White_Army wrote:Pretty bloody stupid to be honest. His team let him down badly. He'd spent 30+ minutes whinging and the ref noticed it. Ran from the centre circle to near the throw in line and had ANOTHER go.
Correct decision for me but he was let down by his teammates in a big way.
Should be further disciplined for his aggression afterwards as well.
