New Firm to decide SPL Title destination

All square with one game to go, Huns 4 goals behind the Tims, final fixtures on Thursday night
Arabs v Tims
Dons v Huns
A win for the Dons (or any result equal to Utd's) and it's the second part of Ranger's "choke" treble

Aye - don't support Rangers....BWFC_Insane wrote:Rangers could lose the league title that a few weeks back they looked bang on to win.
Thats what happens with all those extra games in Europe.
Wonder how many Rangers fans would settle for the UEFA cup final but failure in the league?
Lessons to be taken from this.

Swap your first European final in god-knows-how-many-years for a title thats yours 50% of the time guaranteed?BWFC_Insane wrote:Rangers could lose the league title that a few weeks back they looked bang on to win.

I'd be willing to bet there'll be few regrets north of the border.....
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Why one day where they all got pissed (which is probably the same as any other day) and lost?Lord Kangana wrote:Swap your first European final in god-knows-how-many-years for a title thats yours 50% of the time guaranteed?BWFC_Insane wrote:Rangers could lose the league title that a few weeks back they looked bang on to win.

What memories they'll have of that day!

Nope, I always found it a strangely unimpressive name!Lord Kangana wrote:

I'm not exactly certain they call themselves "scum", and that could really count for a fair few teams.qwertywarrior wrote:

Re: New Firm to decide SPL Title destination
Arabs was a name given to Dundee United due to the fact that during the 1963 season the pitches were so frozen they sanded the pitch so heavily it was like playing in the desert.Bruce Rioja wrote:Mate, other than for The Dons I haven't a clue who you're on about.fatshaft wrote: Arabs v Tims

Tims refers to a Glasgow street gang who used to go round attacking Protestants - The Tim Malloys.
Huns is a reference to the fact that Rangers are pro monarchy and therefore are of Germanic descent.
Well that's how i've always understood it.
DSB No chance of stats from me mate, i couldn't give a feck if Celtc were as successful as Real Madrid in Europe, i still despise the f*ckers.

Not many BWFC_I, Rangers are hurting very badly over their failure to win the SPL (if that's what happens).BWFC_Insane wrote:Rangers could lose the league title that a few weeks back they looked bang on to win.

The UEFA cup was a nice distraction at best, the league was and always is their priority, this will be the first time since Big Jock that Celtc have won 3 in a row i think?
As a footnote, i'm more than happy with how this season has progressed from the catastrophe that went by the name of Paul Le Guen. We've had the pleasure of witnessing one of the finest defenders for ages to grace the SPL, namely Carlos Cuellar. If someone offered me the chance of already possessing one trophy and being involved in 3 other competitions within the last 10 days of the SPL, at the beginning of the season i'd have had them certified.

From what I've seen this does indeed seem to be the case. It's funny, but the more likely you are to win the league, it appears the LESS importance you place on Europe, Man Utd seemed to be the same. I just can't fathom that, although the Dons only have a handful of league titles to our name, it's Gothenburg that lives large, and we'd have celebrated a UEFA cup win like no other.White Army wrote:Not many BWFC_I, Rangers are hurting very badly over their failure to win the SPL (if that's what happens).BWFC_Insane wrote:Rangers could lose the league title that a few weeks back they looked bang on to win.

I find it strange that winning a trophy that only comes from doing well domestically can be valued below the league title.
(P.s. Did I mention it's 25 years since Gothenburg? )

Well to be fair BB. Rangers sing the Billy Boys (Hullo Hullo, we are the Billy boys, which was the original one most English teams now use) as a reference to a similar street gang of Protestants who used to do exactly the same to Catholics, William Fullerton.boltonboris wrote:The old firm have such a rich history.........Tims refers to a Glasgow street gang who used to go round attacking Protestants - The Tim Malloys
Religion is as important, in a sectarian way, to the west of Scotland especially Glasgow as it is in Ulster.
