Now Platini has lost the plot

It seems that Platini now wants to remoce the January transfer window and shorten the summer window as well. See here.... http://msnsport.skysports.com/story/0,1 ... 40,00.html

What was wrong with the system, before the current ststem was brought in? It seems that UEFA and FIFA are intent on destroying football, not developing it!

Isn't this the opposite of what Blatter was saying?

Blatter wanted to give players more freedom to move, as suggested during his "Slave" tirade, where as Platini wants to limit the movement even more!

Platini was transferred only twice in his entire career and has never manager a club side. Typical Frenchman, likes the sound of his own voice.

The only clubs this will help is the big teams. Those that have a massive squad of international players who can afford to cherry pick the best players early in the transfer window.

Typical proposal from the top. Keep the big teams at the top. All for Champions League football.

W*nkers the lot of them

You could be correct Batty, but this could directly affect us, thats why it went in here, and not other Footy.

Paddy Barclay made this point on sunday Supplement, that the transfer window should be closed before the season begins. If this is what Platini is intimating then I agree with him. It's nonsense that the season has already begun and teams are still trying to finalise their squad for the season.

Perhaps it should be closed before the season starts, if the windows are to stay, but Platini seems to want the summer window shortening AND the removal of the winter window.

That's a good idea imo. Once this window closes all we do is wait for the next one. Makes it fair all round.

not fair on the lower league teams though, who used to rely on bigger clubs snapping up in-form players from the lower leagues

this revenue stream is now lost for the other teams, and means they struggle to balance the books....

It makes it fair for the top 4, who afford to can buy large squads with decent players, the rest of us with small squads, will struggle with a few injuries, as we are currently finding out, even though the window is still open.

Just keep the window open up until 1 March, then no-one can make any last minute 'advantage' signings.

That said Platini is wrong, agree 100% with DSB and Batty, free market. Cant go around talking about restriction of trade, freedom of movement etc. Im surprised there hasn't been a challenge from a player wanting to move outside the window from one EU country to another, i supose thats why free transfers are allowed outside the window.

Too right mate, this window only benifits the monster clubs. Makes life difficult for the likes of us and cripples lower league teams.
I also suspect that a lot of the smaller clubs worked hard to bring players through and sell them on It could be said that the window besides restricting a players rights could be stifling the wider development of young talent.
This man is a t*sser and hates the english leagues, but then again he is french

Most managers dislike the window and would do away with it

Presumably if you could buy at any time till March, as was, there wouldn't be the fever-pitch twice a year
