Final Day 08/09

Post by Horza » Sat May 23, 2009 5:10 am

According to statisticsthese are the most likely results:

Arse 2 - Stoke 0 (14% chance)

Villa 1 - Toon 0 (10%)

Banjos 1 - Baggies 1 (10%)

Cottagers 0 - Humbugs 0 (10%)

Worst Town in England 0 - Rags 2 (14%)

The Best Team in the Premiership, no really! 2 - Spuds 1 (10%)

Sovereign Wealth Fund City 2 - Whites 1 (10%)

Blunderlund 0 - Two Minutes from Rome 1 (20%)

Hammers 1 - Boro 0 (19%)

Piemunchers 1 - Pompey 0 (16%)

So there you go, that's 4 Million quid return on a 50p bet, utterly guaranteed to happen by the fearsome power of statistics.

An interesting article and being a bit of a maths buff I find the concepts quite fun to contemplate.

So 50p you say, what's the web address of 188Bet? Oops I forgot I don't like betting do I!

I wonder how you factor in Shearer talking up his team to a potential win!! :?
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

my word, you don't know the web address of 188bet? They should try sponsoring some footy shirts. Already do I hear you say? And still don't know their web address? Well only silly football clubs would work with such an inept marketing department.

I too find the maths side quite fun etc, but one look at the Premier League prediction results here on TW tells you there ain't no easy way to predict these thins, certainly not on the last day.

If you were to look at historical results for example we're a bang on cert to win 1-0

Middlesbrough win 5-0, coupled with a 93rd minute Newcastle equaliser, and a 94th minute Hull equaliser please.

Yeah, like a Man United game would go all the way into the 94th minute...

Well it's half time and it isn't looking too good for "Professor" Spiegelhalter and his slide-rule hugging poindexter buds. Arsenal-Stoke has been a goalfest and the Toffees have scored. Maths - what a joke, eh?

9 from 10 with two correct scores would do me in any tipping comp.
