first up...Liverpool look set to sign Glen Johnson after agreeing a £17million pound fee with Portsmouth

£17million? Seems a lot. Are Liverpool still owed monies from the Crouch transfer? If so I guess that includes his outstanding fee a la the Keane transfer.

Yes, the article indicates Portsmouth still owe some money for Crouch. Still, that's a shedload for a right back, particularly for a team that has ONE good striker.

Are you counting Dirk Kuyt as a striker or a wide man?

Does it matter, or is it even important how many strikers there are as long as there are so many goal scoring options?

Strange one as I wouldn't have thought a right back was the top priority for Liverpool. 17M? Probably about right, thats the price you've gotta pay for youngish proven England players!

Isn't £7 million of the Glen Johnsson deal something do with money owed for the Pennant loan?

It's the going rate though, isn't it? £13.2 million for Paulo Ferreira, £16.3 million for Bosingwa, even more than that for Dani Alves.

Surely anyone can see full backs are priority one for liverpool? Then depth. He's good, but he's not that good. Agreed with whoever said no right back is worth 17million.

I think Dani Alves is easily worth a fifth of a Ronaldo. But each to their own, and that.

That makes the assumption Ronaldo is 'worth' 80million. Hellova player, but best part of two Zidanes, even with inflation, naaaaaah.

It is amusing that Perez has learnt exactly nil from his last go.

I think it's frightening we're now talking about players in terms of £80m. Real Madrid really are the Tottenham Hotspur of the big boys aren't they

Nah, they've won the league since The Beatles formed
