A transfer embargo now until they pay what they owe other clubs.

Also appears that the new (the third owner this season) "has no money and is looking to sell the club on AGAIN".

You wouldn't have thought such a balls up could be made by anyone!

They should be kicked out the Prem with imeadiate effect and suspended till next season when they would have to prove finance was in place to compete in the Championship, sad for their fans but hey o there you go!

Winning the FA Cup last year must now seem like a very long time ago for them. Hull's finances are also up the junction by the sounds of it too.

Paul Hart has the worst job on Earth. He's reduced to signing cast-offs from League One/Two teams . . . and he can't even do that!

Hmmm I can probably think of much worse jobs than the one Paul Hart has (and probably on much worse pay)

But I get yer general point.

There are worse jobs in football. If Portsmouth finish bottom with record low points nobody (apart from Pompey fans) will lay any blame on Paul Hart and he'll walk away with a decent pay off with a reputation relatively still in tact and still be able to get another job in some sort of capacity within football!

They didn't seem to be making that much of it on SSN - here's a quote from their article
Swanson has been told by Portsmouth officials that the club remains "relaxed" about the transfer ban and they expect the issue to be resolved as quickly as possible.
May just be an admin type error?

Like when their players didn't get paid for a week?

Or when Al Fahim kept promising that £50mil was going to turn up within weeks, and then promptly jumped ship?

They're a club run by jokers and they are only going one way. I suspect Birmingham will follow suit. If I gave a flying feck about either of these clubs I'd be sad to see them run into the ground by chancers, but I don't so it's tough.

I wonder if it was a club less favoured by the media, would the press be pushing to bring in a rule about the amount of takeovers a club can have in one season? Just seems like they're very lucky in the fact there always seems to be a queue of people wanting to help them out.

Feck 'em I say

If you think about it, a player isn't allowed to have 3 clubs in one season. How come a club can have 3 owners ?

Clubs who go into Administration get 10pt fines, on 2nd occasions (Luton) 20, or for other maladministration, 25 pts (Chester). They can't allow this fiasco to continue.

I have no ill will to Pompey, in fact their fans always impress me, but this should lead to them being considered for serious action.

This just shows that it is not only doesn't work but that the system is completely flawed.

We now have Portsmouth, probably Birmingham and also Hull in serious trouble financially, lets hope that Bolton can keep their heads above water  as we would be in similar financial problems if we did get relegated.

Its so strange that in a business where most Clubs are millions in debt they are not only still able to continue in operation but are able to extend that debt almost indefinitely.

But then the USA is Trillions of $ in debt and continues to operate, its

You'd think the first thing they would check into is, "DOES THIS GUY ACTUALLY HAVE ANY F***ING MONEY?!?!?!"

On the detail of this, the transfer embargo has been implemented because they haven't paid the selling club for players they bought. One of those is Glenn Johnson for whom they owe Chelsea some of the £4m they agreed for him from the purchase in 2007. Glen Johnson has, of course, subsequently been sold for £18m this year.

Now, I know drip-payment is permitted for buying a player, but how can they then sell him, at a profit (of £14m !!) & not be required to clear the debt ? No wonder clubs are in hock.

Anyway, I blame 'Appy 'Arry ... & Megson, of course. Don't let Megson escape the blame.

Apparently Palace's players didn't get paid last week either. Oh I do hope that that loud-mouthed orange-skinned tosser's on his uppers!

If they've not go the money to pay their staff then they should be docked 10 points (or any other sanctions that would reduce their chances of staying up ahead of us).
