The Facebook Football League

Everton put a plea on their website to help them 'up the league' in terms of facebook followers. Also funny for the laughable 'well, we might have lost to Bolton, but we've got more fans on the internet'. Yes, cos that's what matters, not 3 points.

It does as well as a significant % of the football media. This has changed quite rapidly as even 10 years ago I don't remember so much emphasis put on "fashionable clubs" as there is now.

Oh come on....

I've no issue with facebook per se. But its not used for that.

Its used for people who see each other every day to post banal messages to each other and put up silly drunken photos of each other that gets them in trouble with their employer.

Its also used for single people to send dodgy messages for each other.

I thought that was myspace? Facebook is tame. Yes, I am a fan of Bolton on facebook as well. More to show my passion than help any stupid league. I mean we know who has the fans don't we?

The main point of this thread says more about the profile of Modern Football Fan than anything this season. Seems like a grander version of the fan polls that websites have, that dress up the question "which club does most of our readership support, and how stupid are you to think that the results of such polls matter?"

Worthy finks, we used to be able to do both Airfix and basic English conversation back in the day - they weren't mutually exclusive.

What a platform for young ppl to show the whole world just how fecking dense they are.

I realise I may be opening myself up to ridicule here, but am I the only one who has never been on facebook or twittered?

Possibly - although in my defence, I've been on Facebook about twice, when TW set up a Facebook site.
