There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Republic Of Ireland v France

Post by rockthereebok » Thu Nov 12, 2009 5:21 pm

Anyone interested? Any predictions?

I was just reading a few articles on the front room site about the game and it's got me looking forward to it, even though I normally hate international breaks.

I also genuinely think the Republic will win. 1-1 away, 1-0 at home is my prediction.

They should have beaten Italy, but fukked it up at the last minute - I predict the same here, but against France obviously.

Very funny. Nice to see their Napolean complex is still going strong!

Ireland are 8-1 to win 1-0 on 188bet.com

Might use some of my sizeable £3.50 that's left in there from Fellaini scoring against us!

From the BBC's WCQ preview:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/footbal ... 355104.stm
What they say:
France coach Raymond Domenech after the play-off draw: "They are the England Bs. There won't be any surprises in the World Cup play-offs, we know precisely what to expect."
Republic of Ireland defender Richard Dunne: "Every time a tournament comes round, they have all these world-class players and a man (Domenech) who seems intent on messing them up."
Way to go Dunne!

Wasn't Domenech the one who referred to Bolton as the a*sehole of the universe when Mendy moved here?

It certainly was. He should take a trip up N-East Paris !
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Being loosely World Cup related I would like to be first to float the following ridiculous notion:
Guus Hiddink for manager
If I were the Irish FA I'd hire a PI to look into that referee's phone records. Five bucks says he got a few calls from Platini and Blatter lately. We'll never see video technology implemented; it makes it harder to rig games.

when he could have easily given a penalty about 5 minutes earlier and chose not to?

was one of those things. ref might have missed it completely with the amount of players in the box. linesman should have seen it though.

Glad Ireland lost :D

The peasants don't belong in the world cup, they should stick to jumping on the Man Utd/Liverpool bandwagons, and thinking Roy Keane is the answer to all their problems.
Troll and proud of it.

Still struggling to find any comment from the UEFA President on this blatant cheating...what a surprise.

The report on the UEFA website says just this.
And so came extra time where in the eighth minute a hopeful France free-kick found its way to Henry, who squared for Gallas to head the goal that takes his country to South Africa.

Oh he'll be delighted, the seeding system was just another form of bias and cheating anyway. Shameful.
