I suspect there may be a bit of a "piss-up" heading in the general direction of Glasgow...which is all yours for the sum of £30 return.

But surely, since it leaves from Walkden, the only reasons one couldn't 'make sheff u' would be because one is busy, or one can't afford it, both of which also rule out this appetising day trip.

The idea of getting on a bus to flee an army of invading Yorkshire folk is tempting, however Glasgow would be one of my lwast preferred destinations.

You say that, but if you knew there was a Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers tribute act on in the vicinity that very evening...

Now I'm sorely temtped to go. As for these rules, do they stretch any further than 'Seatbelts must be worn at all times' or 'No food or drink to be consumed'?

Think that might be it. Didn't notice anything more specific last time I was in Glasgow drinking.

Have you ever been, Jimbo? I'm guessing not. One of the best cities in Britain. Wonderful place and a belting night out. It's Burn's Night on Monday so this weekend will be fantastic. My two favourite Weegie spots for haggis, neeps and tatties are The Babbity Bowster in the Merchant City and The Ubiquitous Chip, which is up west. I wish I was able to go.

An excellent choice, sir. I can never find The Babbity Bowster though, mainly because I think I aways head in the opposite direction. That's what happens when you don't have a big feck-off castle to navigate by.

OK, if you've got what used to be Candleriggs Market to your back, look across the road and over to your left and you'll see some relatively new apartments built on and around the old fire station. You're going down the back of there. Fantastic place.

They only apply in England and Wales, so can only presume that they're off to the Rangers game on Saturday for an early warm-up for the Last Night of the Proms.
