For those who haven't seen Steve McClaren secured the Dutch title with FC Twente yesterday, there's a news article here.

Not a bad achievement, but the league is a bit of a joke (second place Ajax goal difference of +86, Twente goal difference of +40)

So will he ever return to English managent, or has he "found his level" in a weaker league?

I think the challenge will be too great one day and he'll come back. But reading his interviews he's very happy with what he's building in Holland, enjoying being away from the limelight and enjoying learning new things.

It is a good achievement. The team he's taken have low attendance, not much money and he's broken the "big 3" over there.

There's talk of him taking on a job with Hamburg in the Bundesliga today. He'll have to change his accent.

Jawohl!! Himmel!! Achtung Spitfire!! etc. :D

It's a tremendous achievement to be honest, they've never done it before.

Oh and <cough>WestHam</cough>...have already made an "unnofficial" offer and been turned down, though they may come back.

I've heard the Wolfsberg job is all but a done deal for him.

Nearly Zulu. McClaren has taken over the reins at Wolfsburg today.

That's a massive challenge. I don't think he could have done much more at FC Twente. To take a team like that and win the league was a very credible achievement, and he's left on a high. The German league will be a tough ask but good luck to him.
