Colin Hendry declared bankrupt

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Colin Hendry declared bankrupt

Post by bobo the clown » Wed Jun 23, 2010 10:58 pm

The "good guy" seems to have got himself into bother, with details held back but a pretty clear inference that on-line gambling is a big player in his problems.

I know his wife was ill & then died, but b-hell, with the number of years at the top he had then he must have blown some cash.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

How does one get credit with an online gambling company? (Not that I'm interested in obtaining some, I just didn't think that's how they do business. Perhaps it's different for their 'big' accounts.)

Probably paid out a fair amount in private medical care for his wife over her seven year battle.

No. they sued & won a fair amount plus costs, so that's not the reason. Norwas her loss of earnings as she was a 'home-maker'.

I understand that for the high rollers there are executive packages which allow people to build up credit. ... & before you ask ... no, never, not to much as a penny ... ever.

Shame, whatver the reason. I liked him at Bolton, he did a good job for us, and losing his wife that way must have smacked him hard. Hope he works it out and learns from it.

Ah yes, I forgot that somebody was liable for their fault in respect of her medical problems.

Same as Tango, I hope the big guy sorts it out.

I mentioned a few months back that a story was coming out on Hendry. He had a big gambling problem and owed many (I believe) money. If I recall correctly, hasn't even paid for his wifes funeral. I think the story broke around 3 months ago and was covered in several newspapers.

Leave him alone - he's our very own baron munchausen, and to be encouraged, imo. i've laughed out loud as ever more outrageous claims were offered - of which my fave so far was taking a hit in the cumbria shootings and digging the bullet out in a cave...
