England v. Hungary
Anyone watching?
Possible debut for Cahill!
Possible debut for Cahill!
ENGLAND:Hart; G Johnson, Terry, Jagielka, A Cole; Barry, Lampard, Gerrard, Walcott, A Johnson; Rooney
Jagielka, back from injury and in straight ahead of Cahill.
It still baffles me why people think Barry is so good.
Why call up Wilshere and Gibbs to chuck em on the bench? No wonder the managers are raging about this friendly.

Bright start by England, seems to have tailed off now though. Barry looks slow, Gerrard despite some excellent touches and passes, tries the spectacular far too often. He's the reason our ball turnover is shite! a dozen times already, he's had a 5 yard pass on, but given it away trying to fizz daisy cutters to Rooney on his own.
Rooney as a front man is fine, but we're giving him 50 yard balls to chase. We need to use the flanks and get to the byline
"I've got the ball now. It's a bit worn, but I've got it"
Rooney only works in a 4-5-1 if he's an attacking part of the 5. He can't play lone striker, he's not disciplined enough.
Johnson is impressing me, but then I thought he should have gone to the World Cup. Walcott also having one of his good games as well. Lampard looks good too.
As I said, no idea why people rate Barry, I think I'm quicker than him! Constantly giving away silly fouls because he can't keep up with play.
Rather surprised that there was no moments silence for the young Exeter lad, nor any armbands.

It's the first time I've said this, but if Rooney doesn't fit into Capello's system, then he HAS to drop him. We look so much more balanced when he's not (running around like a lunatic on the edge of his own box) playing. He's never anywhere near the ball

Gerrard celebrating like he's won the world cu....

For me it was decidedly better. We were short on confidence and Desperate Danny needs to score goals. You can almost sense the frustration in his play. We played first half with that established sense of arrogance we no longer deserve. Too slow to react and waiting for the ball to come to us against faster opposition. Second half proved that if you want to play for your country you have to play your guts out. The new lads were hungry for it and played at speed and with confidence. Stevie Me has had (and deserved) a lot of stick but, although playing really deep he got in there and did the business with two great goals. Their "goal" wasn't, but at least we played with some pride and fire. Well done all the new lads, Adam Johnson in particular. Better.
