Glen Johnson

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Glen Johnson

Post by as » Mon Oct 04, 2010 12:15 pm

A prime example of a player picked for the clubs he's played for in the past.

Can't defend, doesn't have a brain in his head, gets skinned on a weekly basis............and he's England'ss FIRST CHOICE right back?

Cappello is either getting paid £6m to put his feet up and pick the same donkey's for each game, or is told by the red-tops who he's supposed to pick.
Troll and proud of it.

Who would you pick if you were Capello?

At fault for both goals, ripped by Luke Varney. £17.5m

Ironically that fee meant they had no-one decent going forward either.

Nicky Hunt.

18m if I recall and can't defend. Easy to understand why Morinho off loaded him. Might be alright in the midfield though.

Problem as far as England's concerned is that we don't have anyone better that's available. How long's Richards out for, anyone know?

For defensive abilities, outside of Richards are you saying he is the best defensive RB in the country? He is playing because of his offensive skills. Capello has to decide if he wants a threat on both left and right side. If defending is deemed more important I am sure Johnson is not the best option in the country.

A lot of the time England are playing weak opponents who won't test Johnson so his offensive skills are very useful, but the issue with International football is a bit like Scottish clubs in Europe, it all gets very different all of a sudden when you share a pitch with the big boys after crushing poor teams.

Liverpool probably felt that going into the Blackpool game yesterday.

Then the obvious question, Sean, is - who is then?

Johnson is good going forwards and average defensively. He is still far and away the best RB we have. Richards is a fancy Dan who fancies himself as a centre half and can't defend himself. Outside of that....

Who on earth considers him anywhere near Maicon? Do players now have to be the absolute best in the world now to be considered 'good'?

TBH England have probly the best choice of midfielders in the world next to the Spanish, Germans and Messi ;) So I think their first priority should be getting a RB that can defend first and attack second.

My solution - Blood the youngsters.
