Crap last night. Even the fight (at a settlement near Hatfield I often drive past - watching the horses graze on the motorway roundabout outside is a sight to behold) is rubbish.

Anyway, international break, so an opportunity to try something/someone new that a lot of people have been rabidly demanding since the World Cup. Shame it's, by and large, not been taken. Maybe Walker and Cahill getting a chance may be a decent opportunity, but team selection hasn't suggested any major evolution or revolution.

Is it on ITV?

Hope so, their production of footy as been first-class of late.

It is. I can watch football. I'll save the plank for the bits where Adrian Chiles talk about it.

No - quite the opposite - it's because there are so many quick-drying paints nowadays - it's not half as tedious to watch - so we needed a new dullness standard...

the 1-0 lead always turns into a 1-1 - so - both and!

No interest in watching this game as it is another meaningless friendly with very few new faces to really stir up any interest.

And he played well. Composed on the ball, even Terry seemed to grow in confidence at his introduction. Linked up well, and mucked in with two important interventions. Got dug out for special praise by Capello in the ITV post match interview.

All in all, a decent performance. The back four were making poor decisions first half, but we didn't look bad on the ball. Centre backs were getting dragged out of position too often. Good work from Walcott for the goal. Wilshere and Lampard seemed to dive in a little too easily, but were busy enough.

Better second half, with Ashley Young playing that Rooney role behind Bent. He did it better than Rooney tonight as well - Young certainly had the ball facing their goal more, to start with. We also seemed to play to Bent's strengths of running onto the ball rather than play to his feet.

Glen Johnson, once again, proved that we're devoid of decent right backs in this country. Bar his contribution to our second goal, he was awful.

I had to laugh at my dad and my mate, as they kept up a constant commentary on Johnson's shiteness (along the lines of is he the best we've got). Then had to shut up when he made the goal.

But all in all, yes he's rubbish. Pleased with Wilshere though. I hope Sturridge was watching. And the top four managers. And I thought Milner was pretty good, which makes a change for me.
