great goals

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

great goals

Post by Verbal » Fri Apr 15, 2011 1:56 am

basically a thread to post your favourite goals over the years. I made a thread on this waaaaaaaaaaaay back, but cannot find it. Anyway just wanted to post these

Clive Allen (yep really) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUX0hR-3bmM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Gourcuff...love the commentators' reactions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Y-Y56PQlNI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Zidane...though this is more for the assist by Guti: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNpniO665-E" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Can't have a thread like this without Frankies dead good goal.

And I've searched hard for Sams bullet header -v- Sun'land but can't find it.

(the video maker - back to school! just bcause there is an effects button - doesn't mean you have to use it every 3rd frame!)

Franny Lee v Citeh 1962 My first at Burnden

Sam's header v Sunderland 1976 is

Tony Currie for Sheff Utd v Burnley 1974 ish

Two of Hungary vs Brazil at Goodison 1966 (Bene scored the first - Florian Albert made the other think Rakosi hit it).

Okocha v Villa 2004 ish

All of them have "emotional" connections in family history as well as being good goals
What goes around may still come around

10 internet points for anyone who can name the ball boy bouncing about behind the net?

Yeah, I think its pretty common knowledge but may surprise some. On the Sam video I mentioned above one of my old colleagues is behind the goal and as the ball hits the back of the net he jumps to his feet to celebrate completely forgetting he's on duty and in full uniform :D

Tony Yeboah had a collection of great goals all to himself - brutal!

I always like to see the one Brooking scored away in Hungary I think it was, just to see the ball getting stuck up in the stanchion, im a sucker for stuff like that. Ball getting stuck int he net, or going in off post and/or bar etc.

You know, kind of like this absolutely ridiculous free kick...

As for "how the hell did he do that" moments, this chipped back heel flick type thing from Andres Vasquez in Sweden takes some beating

Aye, gotta say I love one crashed in off post and bar. Sometimes take more pride from smacking one against the bar than actually scoring. Probably why I didn't make it. Probably.
