A top Premier League footballer was found to have taken cocaine and it was covered up - his name will be revealed tonight.

I don't want to speculate, but I think we all know who it is.
Dispatches investigates the use of both recreational and performance-enhancing substances in our national game.
Reporter Antony Barnett examines football's drug-testing regime, raises questions about how the sport deals with its drug cheats and also looks at the use of some bizarre but legal treatments players undergo.

:conf: Text me...

I'm taking it that the player in question knows of these allegations. Otherwise it's opening a massive can of worms

Well if they're revealing it tonight it can't be much harm to speualte a little.

I'd say he probably plays in Manchester, but isn't from Manchester, and has other family members also involved in the sport.

As I was saying to LL via text. I've got a suspicion of Tomas Rosicky... Loadsa rumours flying about a while ago regarding his mysterious absence from the team and his penchant for London clubs and prozzies

Millionaire kids with loads of time on their hands. I'd be amazed if there weren't quite a few at it.

That wasn't covered up though, was it? I thought Chelsea took him to court for precisely that reason?

Anyway, its not going to be that salacious. Rich people can afford good legal teams, and large clubs with oodles of cash can aslo. Neither would want their reputation tarnished, or asset devalued. So he'll probably be from a "lesser" team, despite being described as "top".

Hang on, is there a clue in there?

I was always suspicious of a guy who played not at all for about 18 months, with a "mystery illness" while at Newcastle, before failing to make the grade at Wet Spam before going on to be injured in his first ever game for QPR.

Not a massive surprise really. The mother used to live next door to Henrik... I'm nigh on 100% certain I've seen Bolton players at it with him... One's still here as well

A bloke I work with runs some doors around Manchester city centre, he says some of the sights involving footballers you see are ridiculous, to be honest Im surprised there arent dozens of cases of footballers being caught doing coke at the very least. Rife!!

One of my favourite stories he tells though is from the early 2000's; Middlesbrough were playing United at Old Trafford on the Saturday, but in the early hours of that morning he witnessed Bryan Robson and Chris Kamara following Noel Whelan as he crawled up the street absolutely leathered, whilst they themselves were hammered, shouting to him "Noel, you're a disgrace to Middlesbrough Football Club!"

Not sure if he played in the game that followed!

Night before the play off final, or more accurately the morning of the play off final, I was in the same hotel bar as Big Sam, Browny, Reidy, Steve Bruce (sat next to Sam, f*cking leathered), Our Frank and a host of others (my dad recognised the older ones, if I remember rightly Wyn Davies and Freddie Hill, but don't quote me).

They'd had a skin full. We left them all to it at 3. Lord knows what time they went to bed.
