Re: England, England, Ra-Ra-Ra...
I've not read the whole of this thread so apologies if I'm repeating anything but... has anyone noticed how Cahill always plays when Terry plays recently. And, that was after Cahill got a glowing praise from Terry around the time of his first start. It's almost like Terry is insisting on it. Even if Capello is doing the picking it's obvious Terry likes playing next to Gaz, can see him going to Chelsea in January/Summer.

Capello has said more than once that Terry and Cahill are his preferred partnership. But captain glassback hasn't been fully fit yet and you know who he plays for!!

Just hope he doesn't take Rooney next year.

Whats everyone's opinion on Phil Jones?
I think he's just rather a bit meh, though I realise that now (along with Andy Carroll) he's replaced Stevie Me as Henry Winter's new wanking horse that we'll not hear the end of it for the next decade. But what do people see rather than read?
And that Rodwell looks like an English Stuart Holden. More of this please.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Nah, we'll be fine with Darren Bent. And Bobby Zamora.Andy Waller wrote:Just hope he doesn't take Rooney next year.

He's 19. He's also never a central midfielder. I don't think he deserves to be in there, I don't think he is good enough, but I think he will end up one hell of a player.
Rodwell I've barely seen anything of, but he looks tidy, and was marked as 'watch this space' since he was about 15. Not bet against him ending up a centre-half either though.

But the reverential tones being whispered are as a comparison to Duncan Edwards. He may well turn out to be a very good centre half, but if we're discussing all-time greatness, I just don't see it. Rooney was a f*cking magician at 19. Obviously not an actual magician, a metaphorical one.

Re: England, England, Ra-Ra-Ra...
I haven't been impressed with him defensively in the league and thought that perhaps, given his marauding runs, he would be a better midfielder.
Then he played in midfield for England and I thought "meh".
Wouldn't be getting a look in if he wasn't a DMB.

As the starting 11 came from 9 different clubs - just which of the big clubs were getting special preference?boltonboris wrote:I definitely think he's been told he has to fill a big club quota. Regardless of ability, they're picked based on club.

It was a friendly though so I don't think they're that bothered. As mentioned previously, the likes of Jones and Terry, would they get a look in if they played for BWFC?bw@bw wrote:As the starting 11 came from 9 different clubs - just which of the big clubs were getting special preference?boltonboris wrote:I definitely think he's been told he has to fill a big club quota. Terry? Seriously? Cahill is getting a 'look in', so you are actually suggesting our Gaz is better than Terry? As for Jones, no, not yet.

Wasn't the German's game plan against us, in the World Cup, to draw Terry out and exploit the gaps he leaves? I think Jagielka and Lescott don't do a bad job together too.Prufrock wrote:Terry? W've loads of talent knocking about but the likes of Lampard, Terry and Gerrard always seem to get in.
