Hodgson....

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Sturridge has been dog-awful in what he has played of the last six months.

Don't mind Carroll's pick too much. It isn't as if England is blessed with goal-getting strikers at the minute, is it?

Downing

Stevie Me as captain. Interesting. Wouldn't have him in the starting midfield if I'm honest. Him playing off of Carroll I guess?

I'd have had Micah Richards in.

As for the rest, Downing is rubbish but who else would you put in?

Carroll? Hmmm. Roy likes a big man up there, and if its not Crouch then who else? Holt just a step too far.

I'd still have Joe Cole down the left for England. Or Young if it's a 4-3-3.

Pleased that Carroll has been picked. He's looked dangerous recently and this inclusion might give him some confidence.

The team on paper looks very, very weak though.

Johnson ahead of Richa... Anyone??!!

I know Kyle Walker is injured, but what about Rodwell? I'd have personally probably taken STurridge, but then he'd have been crucified because Henry Winter decided a long time ago that Carroll and Jones were the future of England, so woe betide anyone disagreeing with that...

Its a little bit jobs for the boys, especially Gerard as captain (W.T.F.???), but then theres a seemingly smaller and smaller pool of talent at the managers disposal.

Its to be hoped thats partly what he was brought in to deal with, and this is just the short term answer. We'll see.

clearly knows where the net is... but... would he just get himself sent off....

Exactly, he's a younger Kevin Davies. Commits a lot of fouls, and in International football would probably struggle given the restrictions over physical contact imposed by moronic refs.

Carroll has more experience of that.

Hardly inspiring. Makes one wonder if the manager's get to pick the sides they want.

shocking stuff, that. Who does he think he is, God's gift to England's central midfield?

Maybe if he, you know, improved. He'd be in the startingm line up. Soft, egotistical wanker

Norwich City’s John Ruddy has been included as England’s third goalkeeper with Hodgson confirming that the 25 year-old would miss the second warm-up match at home to Belgium because he is due to get married. “When he was told he offered to postpone the wedding, but I suggested it would be dangerous to do that.”
Haha.

Good for Ruddy. Gerrard wouldn't postpone a manicure for a warm-up match.

After his wedding day, shall we dump him in the De Vere whites for a few weeks, with some Nando's vouchers? :)

Just sssumed he was don't pay too much attention to them really but I guess not... I take it back... And still think he's a nice person for not wanting to play for his country.
