Re: Watford
I thought the Premiership had a rule about the number of loanees in any match-day squad?

According to this article, FIFA class any international loans as 'permanent' transfers so the Premier League may be powerless to stop this happening again.
Isn't there another rule about home grown players?

Re: Watford
I believe the rule is you have to have five home-grown players in a match day squad. It doesn't dictate what their nationality has to be, or whether or not they actually play.malcd1 wrote:http://www.express.co.uk/comment/column ... be-stopped" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Prufrock wrote:I thought the Premiership had a rule about the number of loanees in any match-day squad?

That's kind of you, but really? We beat each other this season, but in the Prem that you did the double over us and beat us in the FA Cup.jaffka wrote:Good luck Watford, I would like to see you go up.

Of course, if you want us to be your bogey team I won't complain

And quite right too.
Now, let's see the short-term purchase scam they develop after this loophole closes.

Sensible re-writes of the rules will cover such eventualities. .......... So THAT won't be how they handle it, will it !?

Let's put it this way: when two clubs are owned by the same person, negotiating transfers with yourself probably won't take too long.ChrisC wrote:They will be signing players for a pound a pop.bobo the clown wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22800755

Oooh, not so sure. There are some beggars on here could argue black was white and then dispute the outcome after people lose the will to live and give in.aefevans wrote:Let's put it this way: when two clubs are owned by the same person, negotiating transfers with yourself probably won't take too long.ChrisC wrote:They will be signing players for a pound a pop.bobo the clown wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22800755

If I read it correctly the same owners own a Spanish club as well. So much scope for misbehaviour.

Re: Watford
There is a Spanish club, Granada. So it's essentially a three-club family. We've already signed on of the 'loan' players for free and it's in our mutual owner's interests for us to have the best players.bobo the clown wrote:Oooh, not so sure. Re: Watford
It won't be long before a ban is put in place to stop businessmen owning or having an interest in more than one club.
Re: Watford
They aren't owned by the same person though, as I understand it. Father, son, friend, that kinda shit. I was surprised Abramovich didn't try it to get round the fair play rules.
